Zero to low annual fees
Any Malaysian with a minimum monthly income of RM2,500 or RM30,000 annually can apply for a Maybank American Express Cash Back Gold credit card.
Meanwhile, if you're an expatriate, you must earn a minimum monthly income of RM5,000 or RM60,000 per year to be eligible to apply for this card.
For the first year of card membership, you don't have to worry about paying the annual fee of RM70 (exclusive of GST) as Maybank will waive it for you.
The first-year annual fee waiver is also extended to your first two supplementary cardholders.
What is the interest rate of Maybank American Express Cash Back Gold?
The interest rate is between 15% per annum to 18% per annum depending on the condition of your repayments. They are illustrated below.

Previously, the finance charge was only imposed on the below that were not paid after the payment due date:
- Retail transaction - finance charge is calculated from the posting date till full payment is made
- cash advances/withdrawal transaction - finance charge is calculated from the transaction date
The finance charge is now based on the prevailing tiered interest rate (above) that will be imposed on any of your outstanding balances including all fees and charges (except late payment charges).
These are carried forward from the previous statement until the outstanding balances are fully settled.
All fees and charges include:
- Annual Fee
- Cash Advance Fee
- Card Replacement Fee
- Statement Copy Fee
- Sales Draft Retrieval Copy Fee
- Any other form of service of the miscellaneous fee (if any) EXCEPT Late Payment Charges
A late payment charge of 1% will be imposed if the minimum payment is not made by the payment due date. This is subject to a minimum of RM10, whichever is higher up to a maximum of RM100.
The changes made on this finance charge will not have any impact if you do not have any unpaid outstanding balance.
You will continue to enjoy a 20-day interest-free period, provided that the outstanding balances of your Maybank American Express Cash Back Gold carried forward from the previous month's statement cycle are paid in full.
What are the required documents to make an application?
To apply as a principal cardholder, please prepare the following documents accordingly.
For salaried employees:
- Copy of IC (both sides) or Passport
- Latest 3 months salary slips
- Latest 6 months savings account activity/current account statement
For self-employed (you must hold a Maybank account):
- Copy of IC (both sides) or Passport
- Form B/Latest EA form
- Copies of Business Registration Certificate/Trading License/Form 9, Form 24, Form 49
- Latest 6 months personal/company bank statement
To apply for a supplementary card, please prepare a copy of the cardholder's IC (both sides) or Passport.

- Make an online application for any one of the eligible credit cards (or more) via the Maybank2u website or the MAE App within the Campaign Period
- Complete the e-application form and upload all the required supporting documents
- Wait for approval from the bank
- Once approved, perform a minimum retail spend of RM300 within the first 45 days from the card’s approval date to be eligible
Individuals who are not eligible to participate in this campaign include:
- Permanent and/or contract employees of Maybank (including its subsidiaries and related companies);
- Any Eligible Customer who had cancelled any of his/her Maybank Credit Card within six (6) months before the date of application and is reapplying for another Maybank Credit Card under the Campaign;
