The RinggitPlus Verdict

As you can see from the table, generally speaking, normal folks like you and me get one Reward Point for every Ringgit spent on a Credit Card. If you want to earn mega-Points you’ll need a Signature, World or Infinite Credit Card (and the salary to go with it).

There are exceptions to the rule, you don’t need to be a millionaire to have a Maybankard Gold, Gold Amex, or Petronas Gold Credit Card. So Maybank has you covered with some good earning power if Reward Points are your thing.

Banks also tend to offer one-off special Reward Points programs for certain cards. For example, Maybank’s very accessible Manchester United Visa Card offers 5 x Treatspoints on Petrol and Groceries. They even throw in 5x Treatspoints every time Manchester United win a match (and we all know that Manchester United always win, right?)

Likewise, the Alliance You:nique Rewards Credit Card is a product specially built to offer you more points (they have You:nique Cash Back and You: nique Rates Credit Cards too – great idea, you pick the card that suits you best).

Judging the banks on Credit Card Reward Points earning power alone, we recommend choosing Maybank as your Points Partner. They’re winners, just like Manchester United.

Wait – There’s More!

Earning Reward Points is one thing, but what can you spend them? Come back on Friday when we’ll show you what your Points are worth.
