Food lovers around Malaysia would be happy to know that GrabFood, Grab’s food delivery service, has recently undergone a second round of expansion exercise. This means that its services can now be found in 19 new cities and major townships across the nation.
The list of new spots includes Kajang, Bangi, Sungai Buloh, Rawang, Ipoh, Taiping, Seremban, Nilai, Kuantan, Kota Bharu, Kuala Terengganu, Miri, Bintulu, Batu Pahat, Muar, Alor Setar, Sungai Petani, Seberang Perai, and Langkawi.
GrabFood was previously available only in selected areas in Klang Valley, Penang, Melaka, Johor Bahru, Kuching, and Kota Kinabalu. The service hopes to work together with local favourites in all of the cities to make food more conveniently accessible.
Sean Goh, Country Head of Grab Malaysia, commented that restaurant partners on the GrabFood platform have seen a four-fold average increase in sales in 2019 alone.
“Through our platform, smaller food restaurants, especially in the outer-city areas are now able to accelerate their businesses,” said Goh, who hopes to see a similar success repeated in the new cities.
Additionally, GrabFood has also recently introduced GrabFood Signatures, a specially curated list of restaurant-partners across various cuisines that customers love. GrabFood will be working closely with them to come up with customised promotional campaigns and bundles for the users. Notable restaurants involved in this collaboration include MyBurgerLab, La Juiceria, Village Park Restaurant, and Inside Scoop.
GrabFood’s expansion is a precursor to Grab’s goal to also introduce other services, such as GrabExpress and GrabMart, across the country. Aside from just offering better services to its consumers, the technology giant also sees this as a method to increase business and income opportunities for all across the country.
“With 1 in 70 people in Southeast Asia earning an income through the Grab platform, Grab is aiming to play a bigger role in supporting and creating more income opportunities for Malaysians across the country,” said Grab in a statement.
