The Road Transport Department (JPJ) is offering a discount of up to 70% on the payment of summonses in conjunction with the celebration of Malaysia’s 64th Merdeka Day. The offer – which is valid starting from today – will last until 16 September 2021.
According to a statement from JPJ, the discount will be provided for all compoundable summonses, except for cases that are still under mention in courts, including those with the status of arrest warrants or trial.
The reduction is for all summonses issued under the Road Transport Act 1987 (Act 333), the Commercial Vehicles Licensing Board Act 1987 (Act 334), and other rules and orders under it, including cases that are still blacklisted. Note, though, that traffic offenders who have been blacklisted are required to visit a JPJ office (branch or state) for redocumentation purposes before they can proceed with the payment process.
Aside from that, JPJ also clarified that the offer applies to summonses that are still active and valid, provided that payments are made within the offer period.
If you’d like to tap into this offer by the JPJ, you can head on over to any state JPJ offices and branches, Urban Transformation Centre (UTC) outlets, or kiosks to pay your summonses. Alternatively, you can also do so online via the mySIKAP JPJ portal.
Finally, JPJ said that it hopes this offer will assist in easing the burden of the Malaysian public, following the economic crisis that has impacted people from all walks of life due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
