So these are the rewards categories that Citibank offers you, all the biggest brands and the most accessible stores. This means, whether you choose to subscribe to one or all of these categories its always a win win. You get to earn 5x the rewards for every RM1 you spend in each of these places.
The Shopping Category
- Parksons, Robinsos, Tangs, Marks & Spencer, Padini, Topshop, Topman, Zara, Mango, Charles & Keith, Uniqlo, Shu Uemura and SASA
The Home Category includes;
- Tesco, Giant, AEON, AEON BIG, Senheng, ACE Hardware, Watsons, Cold Storage, IKEA, Guardian, Harvey Norman and Toys 'R' Us
The Entertainment Category has;
- Borders, MPH, Popular, GSC and TGV Cinemas, Secret Recipe, Coffee Bean, Vietnam Kitchen, Madam Kwan's, T.G.I Friday's, Nando's, Dragon-i, Sakae Sushi, Baskin Robins, Domino;s and even Neway!
The Driving Category, for all your petrol needs;
- Petronas, BHP, Shell, Caltex, Petron, or Esso Mobil you get to earn rewards points.
Lastly the Travel Category for flights and travel gear;
- Fly Malaysia Airlines, Air Asia, Firefly, Universal Traveller and Samsonite
Your rewards earnings are capped at RM1000 per month for each category except for Travel. Instead of a monthly cap, Travel rewards are capped annually at RM12,000.
Hold up, if your favorite place to shop isn't on the list, you can still earn rewards everywhere you spend with 1x Rewards for every RM1 you spend.
Yes there are, instead of a card annual fee there is an annual subscription fee of RM106 inclusive of 6% GST, that comes with each category. It is essentially up to you how many categories you’d like to subscribe to. Similarly, there are no card annual fees for supplementary cards, only the subscription fee based on which rewards category you choose.
Upon signing up for the card, you will have to pick at least two categories if not more. But don’t worry after a year you can switch them out for one of the other categories, add more or even exclude them all together.
How do I subscribe?
Easy, with the world going online, you can both manage and customize your subscriptions via the Citibank Mobile App or Citibank Online.
The subscription period for the rewards categories you choose are from the date you choose them to the card anniversary date. This means that you’ll be charged on a pro-rated basis, and not for a full year depending on when you sign up for it.
Any other perks?
Well, there is a little bit of a gift for new customers picking up the Citi Rewards Platinum. As a welcome gift Citibank will offer you 20,000 rewards points when you spend a total of RM2000 within the first 6 months of getting the card.
Another deal that cardmembers have is a way to waive your Reward Categories Subscription. Simply spend a total of RM15,000 per annum and get the fee for one of your subscriptions waived. To get more than one subscription free spend an extra RM15,000 per annum.
