Review

Standard Chartered Bank brings good news to frequent flyers with its travel credit card – Standard Chartered WorldMiles World MasterCard.

Transform the way you travel with the card that lets you earn air miles faster than ever while offering you comfort between trips, along with exclusive travel packages and merchant offers across the region.

Standard Chartered WorldMiles World MasterCard – air miles that are easy to earn

Once you have the card, you can earn 1 WorldMiles Point with every RM3 in local retail spending, or 4.5 WorldMiles Points with every RM3 in overseas spending. However, petrol transactions are excluded.

Here are the key terms and conditions for the WorldMiles Points:

  • Points earned can be redeemed for air miles from Malaysia Airlines Enrich, Singapore Airlines Krisflyer, AirAsia BIG and Cathay Pacific Asia Miles.
  • Two (2) WorldMiles Points can be used to redeem one (1) air mile.
  • Redemption of air miles can only be made in multiples of 1,000 points.
  • WorldMiles Points are valid for 36 months from the month it is credited into your account.

Special travel privileges

In addition to WorldMiles Points, the Standard Chartered WorldMiles World MasterCard also features special privileges to cater to the needs of frequent travellers.

As a principal cardholder, you can enjoy unlimited complimentary access to participating Plaza Premium Lounges in KLIA and KLIA2 worth RM168 per entry, subject to you having a valid international boarding pass.

Additionally, your accompanying guests can also enjoy a 20% discount on the published rates of Plaza Premium Lounges.

What's more – your ride home from KLIA and KLIA2 could be free!

This Standard Chartered credit card offers up to RM80 cashback on your Airport Limousine or KLIA Ekspres (ERL) ride as long as you, as the principal cardholder, spend a minimum of 3 retail transactions overseas in foreign currency in the past 30 days, excluding online purchases. The cashback is only applicable for the first ride of each month.

Standard Chartered WorldMiles World MasterCard Annual Fee

The Standard Chartered WorldMiles World MasterCard has an annual fee of RM600 – free for the first year for new customers and also will be waived when you spend a minimum of RM60,000 per year on the subsequent years.

The annual fee is referred to as the Miles Membership Fee at the time of writing. All supplementary cards are free.

What happens if I did not make a repayment on time?

There will be a finance charge incurred on the outstanding credit card balance that is overdue. This finance charge, ranging from a minimum of 15% p.a. to a maximum of 18% p.a., is tiered based on the user's repayment behaviour in the last 12 months.

See the table below for reference:

Annual RatesConditions
15% p.a.Cardmembers who promptly settle their Minimum Monthly Payment due for 12 consecutive months.
17% p.a.Cardmembers who promptly settle their Minimum Monthly Payment due for 10/11 months in the last 12 consecutive months.
18% p.a.Cardmembers who make 9 months or less prompt payments of their Minimum Monthly Payment in the last 12 consecutive months.

For example, if within 12 months from the card approval date you have missed 3 credit card repayments consecutively, an 18% p.a. finance charge will be levied on the credit card outstanding balance.

After which you have managed to consistently repay your credit card outstanding balance promptly and in full for 12 consecutive months, the finance charge will default to the minimum.
