What is AmBank Islamic Basic Current Account-i Plus?
It is an Islamic current account with no annual account fee, as long as you maintain an average account balance of RM1,000. You also won't be charged any fee for the accompanying debit card.
What is the requirement to open an account?
- You must be at least 18 years old
- You must be a Malaysian citizen or Malaysian permanent resident
- You need RM20 for the initial deposit
There's no introducer needed, so you can walk into an AmBank Islamic branch with your MyKad and open the account on your own. Your deposit is protected under PIDM for up to RM250,000 per depositor.
What do I get with this Islamic current account?
Every account comes with a chequebook, and you get access to internet banking via AmOnline. On top of that, withdrawals are unlimited and free, whether at the counter of an AmBank or AmBank Islamic branch or using an AmBank ATM.
The debit card has no issuance charge, and stays free for as long as it's linked to your account as the primary card.
What are the applicable fees?
- Average balance to stay fee-free: RM1,000
- Charge if average balance drops below RM1,000: RM10, billed every 6 months
