Am I eligible to apply for a CIMB Basic Current Account?
There are a couple of requirements that you need to meet to be eligible for the CIMB Basic Current Account:
- You must be at least 18 years old; and
- Malaysian and permanent resident with a valid Identity Card.

This account is also open to Small and Medium Enterprises and can be opened as a joint account as well. So, have the details of your joint account holder ready as well.

What are the fees and charges I should know?
These are a few significant fees and charges you should be aware of:
- Replacement of lost/stolen/mishandled card: RM12
- Half Yearly Service Charge: RM10 for an account with average credit balance of less than RM1,000
- Early Account Closure: RM20, if closed within 3 months of opening
- Stamp duty on cheques: RM0.15 per cheque leaf
- Cheque processing fee: RM0.50 per transaction on issuer
Is my money protected under PIDM?
Absolutely. Your deposit in CIMB Basic Current Account is eligible for protection under PIDM for up to RM250,000.
