What is the BSN Visa Debit Card?

The BSN Visa Debit Card is linked to your BSN GIRO account, designed for a convenient, debt-free lifestyle.

It functions as both your ATM card for cash withdrawals and your payment card for purchases, allowing you to spend directly from your account balance without ever needing to borrow.

Where can I use my card for payments?

Your card is accepted almost everywhere, giving you complete payment freedom. You can use it for:

  • Worldwide Payments: Accepted at millions of locations locally and overseas, wherever you see the Visa or MyDebit logo.
  • Daily Essentials: Pay for everyday needs, such as petrol, groceries, and dining.
  • Online Shopping: Securely shop on your favourite e-commerce websites.
  • Bills and Orders: Set up automatic bill payments or pay for mail and telephone orders.
  • Ejen Bank (EB) Services: Use it for retail purchases, prepaid top-ups, bill payments, and more.

How does the contactless payment feature work?

For quick and secure checkouts, your card features Visa payWave. For any purchase under RM250, you can simply tap your card on the payment terminal to complete the transaction instantly, with no signature or PIN required.

What are the spending limits on my card?

To help you manage your money safely, the card has daily purchase limits which you can adjust according to your needs. The default limits are:

  • Teenager/Junior Account: Default limit of RM200, which can be increased to a maximum of RM500.
  • Adult Account: Default limit of RM3,000, which can be increased to a maximum of RM10,000.

Important Note: To use your card for overseas purchases or online shopping, you must first activate these functions through a BSN ATM or your myBSN Internet Banking portal.

How can I manage my account with this card?

The BSN Visa Debit Card puts you in full control of your finances. You can:

  • Withdraw Cash: Access your money from any BSN ATM or millions of ATMs worldwide that display the VISA or PLUS logo.
  • Transfer Funds: Easily move money between accounts.
  • Track Transactions: Monitor your spending and check your account balance in real-time by logging into your mybsn.com.my online account.

Is there any Takaful protection available?

Yes, for added security, you can opt into the BSN IHSAN PA TAKAFUL plan for a small annual contribution of just RM10.15. This plan offers a range of valuable benefits for one year (renewable annually):

Benefit Sum Covered
Death RM 10,000
Permanent Disablement Up to RM 10,000
Funeral Expenses RM 1,000
Snatch Theft RM 750
Card Replacement Reimbursement RM 12 (up to 2 claims per year)

If you require more details about this Takaful plan, check out the Product Disclosure Sheet (PDS).

Who is eligible for the BSN Visa Debit Card?

To get a BSN Visa Debit Card, you simply need to be a BSN GIRO account holder and be 12 years of age or older.

Applicants under 18 will require a parent or guardian to sign an indemnity letter on their behalf.

Common Questions

Why was my transaction declined?

Common reasons include insufficient funds, exceeding your daily purchase limit, pre-authorisation holds (e.g., RM200 for petrol pump transactions), or inactive online/overseas transaction functions.

Can I use my card overseas?

Yes, but you must activate the overseas transaction function before travelling. Activation is available at BSN ATMs, through myBSN, via the Contact Centre (1300-88-1900), or at any branch.

What about petrol station transactions?

When paying at outdoor pumps, a RM200 pre-authorisation hold is placed on your account. This reverses within 3 working days once the actual amount is settled. Pay at the indoor cashier to avoid this hold.

Lost or stolen card?

Report immediately by calling the BSN Contact Centre at 1300-88-1900 (Malaysia) or +603 2613 1900 (overseas), or visit any BSN branch.
