What is this HSBC Visa Debit Card?
It's a versatile and secure payment tool. Enhanced with the convenience of Visa payWave, you can tap and go for quick payments at your favourite stores and even while travelling.
Who can apply for this debit card?
The HSBC Visa Debit Card is available to all Malaysian citizens and permanent residents aged 18 years and above who open a basic savings or current account with HSBC.
What do I need to open an account?
To apply in person at a branch, you will need:
- For Malaysian Citizens: Your MyKad.
- For Permanent Residents (PR): Your Passport, PR card, and one valid proof of your residential address in Malaysia (e.g., utility bill or bank statement).
Any fees that I should know about?
- Replacement Fee (Loss/Stolen): RM10.
- Cash Withdrawal at Shared ATM (MEPS) Network: RM1 per successful transaction.
- Cash Withdrawal at Overseas HSBC ATM: RM5 per successful transaction.
- Foreign Currency Conversion Fee: 1%.
I've received my card. How do I activate it?
Your card is issued inactive for security, but activation is quick and simple!
- Step 1: Call the 24 Hours Card Hotline at +603 8321 8999 from your registered mobile number.
- Step 2: Select "2" for Debit Card PIN.
- Step 3: Enter your 16-digit Debit Card number.
- Step 4: A One-Time 6-digit security code will be sent to your registered Mobile Number.
- Step 5: Enter the 6-digit security code to complete your PIN creation. You can start using the card after you receive a confirmation SMS from the bank.
