How to Claim

When it comes to medical insurance, some people will tell you that signing up for a policy is the easy part. It's the claims process that's long, arduous and layered with lots of paperwork. But it doesn't have to be that way.

  • Step 1: If you're going to make a claim be sure to inform Berjaya Sompo in writing within 30 days of your disability using the Online Enquiry Form. Be sure to provide the policy number and your full name as stated in the agreement.
  • Step 2: Get your documents ready:
    1. Claim Form - download and complete the Berjaya Sompo Hospital and Surgical Insurance Claim Form. Part II needs to be filled by your attending doctor.
    2. Original hospital bills and receipts
    3. Medical report
    4. Any other relevant supporting documents
  • Step 3: Submit your documents to the address provided by Berjaya Sompo. To follow up on your claim, you can contact Berjaya Sompo’s customer service at 1 800 889 933.

Who can apply for this medical insurance plan?

Any Malaysian aged between 19 to 55 are encouraged to sign up. You can renew with Berjaya Sompo until you reach the age of 76.

If you have children under your care, you can insure them as well as long as they're at least 30 days old but under 19 years old, up til the age of 23 for those registered full time students at a recognized university or college in Malaysia.

How much premium do I have to pay?

Your yearly premium is based on your age and chosen plan, subject to underwriting requirements by Berjaya Sompo. Remember, you get 15% off if you include your spouse and children under the same Berjaya Sompo insurance plan.

How long am I covered for and can I renew my policy?

Your insurance policy will become effective on the date stated in the schedule and it will expire exactly one year from that date. Can you renew? Of course you can, but you may pay a higher premium at renewal.

Don't worry, it won't be a surprise - a notice of 30 days will be given should your premium increase. Factors contributing to the increase of renewal premium are your age and your claim experience

Are pre-existing illnesses covered by this plan?

No they aren't. Pre-existing illnesses that you suffer from before the effective date of your insurance policy cannot be covered.

You also won't be covered for specified illnesses occurring during the first 120 days of continuous cover. Any medical or physical conditions arising within the first 30 days of your cover or reinstatement date unless due to accidental injuries.
