Frequently Asked Questions about Great Eastern Smart Extender Max

Things you might want to know

What are the important features of this insurance policy?

We live in a world so saturated with viruses and bacteria that any one of these malicious organisms could engulf your entire savings just overnight. Here's a fun fact: there are more bacteria in your mouth than people in the entire world!

Fear not! Great Eastern Smart Extender Max relieves you from hospitalisation cost when you are admitted to a hospital - this includes surgeon and anaesthetist fees, drugs, medicines, diagnostic test, and hospital room and board charges.

This policy also covers fees incurred for follow-up treatment by the same physician and outpatient treatment for kidney dialysis and cancer treatment.

What are the differences between the plans?

  • Deductible Amount

Smart Extender Max offers a total of four different plans, namely SEM60K, SEM100K, SEM150K, and SEM200K. The deductible amount is represented by the name of the respective plan. For instance SEM60K indicates a deductible of RM60,000, SEM100K indicates a deductible of RM100,000 and so on.

If you don't have a clue how the deductible amount works, here's an example:

Lets say you have a SEM60K insurance plan in hand. You are admitted to the hospital a few times in the year and the total for your bills is RM90,000. You are obliged to pay RM60,000 (deductible) and the insurer will bear the remaining amount of RM30,000

  • Hospital Room and Board

Coverage for hospital room and board charges varies for each plan. SEM200k offers the highest coverage at RM400 a night and the lowest premium rates.

However, your total medical bills have to exceed that RM200,000 before any coverage benefits are paid out.

What unique benefit does Smart Extender Max offer?

You definitely have a sharp eye! Smart Extender Max will compensate you for the cost incurred for intraocular lens implantation up to RM2,000 per lifetime.

For those of you who are wondering what that is, it is an artificial lens designed to replace the eye's natural lens to treat short-sightedness and deteriorating vision.

How much can I claim?

With this policy, your annual maximum claim limit ranges from RM600,000 to RM2,000,000 depending on the plan that you choose. The great news is there's no lifetime claim limit restriction for all policies!

Who is eligible to apply for this medical insurance policy?

Smart Extender Max covers infant as young as 30 days old and elderly up to the age of 79. Bear in mind that this policy only accepts new applicant between ages from 30 days to 60 years.

Only existing policyholders can get coverage up to 79 years old.
