Frequently Asked Questions about Kurnia MediGUARD Supreme

Things you might want to know

Here’s the thing about life – no matter how well you prepare to succeed, how hard you work on something or how low you stay to avoid trouble, there’s always a chance that things won’t turn out the way you want. That’s what makes life beautiful and frightening at the same time. The worst thing you can do is to not have any preparation for it, because when it comes to accidents or illnesses, it’s often not a question of if” it will happen, but “when”.

What is this policy all about?

The MediGUARD Supreme provides comprehensive medical insurance protection until the age of 85 years old. Besides that, the additional benefits provided will also help provide you some relief when your loved ones are hospitalised due to accident or illness.

What are the benefits of this medical insurance?

As part of the “Enhanced Extended Benefits of this medical insurance policy, in case you’ve been diagnosed with a Critical Illness, MediGUARD Supreme will double the Overall Annual Limit in order to help you take care of hefty medical bills and cost of treatment.

If you have not made a claim during the year, you’ll also be rewarded with a 5% annual adjustment of your Overall Annual Limit, up to a maximum of 50% from your original Overall Annual Limit. This means that if you’re able to stay relatively healthy for 10 years, you’ll enjoy an additional 50% protection at no extra cost to you. You just need to pay the annual premiums as per your policy book.

Also, while most other medical insurance plans on the market would usually cap the benefits for Outpatient Kidney Dialysis and Cancer Treatments, MediGUARD Supreme removes these limits and sets them on-par with the Overall Annual Limit, so you’ll be sure to have enough funds to cover your outpatient treatments.

Can I extend these benefits to my family members?

If two or more of your family members – including yourself – buys MediGUARD Supreme simultaneously, you get to enjoy up to 10% discount off your total annual premium. You and your family member can have policies of different tiers, but as long as it is under the MediGUARD Supreme policy, you are eligible for this discount.

Do I need to pay part of the medical bills if I am hospitalised?

Your hospital room and board fees will be paid in full by Kurnia. However, if you choose to upgrade your room, or you’re hospitalised at a published room & board rate which is higher than your eligible benefits as stated in your policy book, you’ll have to bear 20% of the bills.

Fortunately, the wide range of plans offered by MediGUARD Supreme should be able to cater for most average and well-to-do Malaysians, with Hospital Room & Board benefits of up to RM1,000 per day for a maximum of 180 days. Admissions to Intensive Care Units will also be fully reimbursed up to 120 days.

Who is eligible to purchase this insurance policy?

Any Malaysian in good health, from 30 days to 60 years old are eligible to buy this insurance policy. Renewal is available up to 85 years old provided you enrolled before you’re 61 years old.

How will I receive the payment for my claims?

After going through the necessary procedures for claims, Kurnia will make the claims payment by cheque to you, the policyholder, or to another party at your request, subject to approval from Kurnia.
