How does Maybank Takaful MediRider work?
The Maybank Takaful MediRider is a Shariah-compliant medical coverage policy. A medical card will be issued once you've signed-up, which you can use at any Maybank panel hospitals for hassle-free and fast admission.
As a rider plan, you can attach Medirider to selected Maybank family Takaful plans for added peace of mind. You can also upgrade your policy to Takaful MediRider Plus to access better treatment facilities and room upgrades during hospitalisation - fancy a private room?
Who can apply for this medical policy?
Malaysians or permanent residents between 30 days to 59 years old are eligible to subscribe for Maybank Takaful MediRider. The expiry age for this plan is 75 years old.
Do I need to pay any medical costs?
Yes, but you only need to pay a co-takaful rate of 10% of each medical claim you make. This co-takaful arangement is the cost you have to share with Maybank. For example, if your total medical bill is RM30,000, all you need to pay is RM3,000. Maybank will cover the rest for you, which is the remaining RM27,000.
What if the hospital’s room and board rates are higher than what's covered?
Not to worry, your hospital bills are still covered by Takaful MediRider. The co-payment requires that you pay 20% of your medical bills, while the co-takaful (of 10%) is also applicable on the remaining 80% of medical costs. So in total, you’ll have to pay 28% of your medical bills.
Let’s show you an example where you’ve taken up Takaful MediRider 100 package, with a limit on room and board rate of RM100 per day. But you chose to upgrade your room above the covered amount and the total bill come up to RM8,000.
You’ll have to pay 20% of your medical expenses, which is RM1600; Maybank is supposed to pay 80% of the bill or RM6,400. But because you have to pay the co-takaful which is 10% of that amount, you’ll have to pay another RM640. So your total costs works out to be only RM2,240.
Well, how much can I be insured for?
You'll get complete medical coverage for up to RM100,000 annual and RM300,000 lifetime limit, inclusive of in-patient income benefit for up to RM450 each day.
Not only that, you'll also be covered for RM200 Ambulance fees and RM20,000 compensation in the event of your accidental death.
How do I make my claims to Maybank?
You can submit your claims for hospital bills, government hospital allowance and accidental death benefits payment to Medijaring, a third party administrator that is appointed by Maybank to manage your financial claims. Medijaring is registered with the Ministry of Health and Bank Negara Malaysia.
