How to Claim

Who do I contact if I have a question or emergency?

Medical Assistance Hotline & Services
Zurich Customer Care Hotline

1. Cashless Admission (Panel Hospitals)

A physical medical card isn't needed for cashless admission at a panel hospital. Policyholders download the Zurich MyMed app (managed by MiCare), then show the e-medical card from the app along with an NRIC or passport at the hospital's registration counter. From there, the hospital coordinates directly with the Third-Party Administrator (TPA) to issue a Guarantee Letter (GL).

2. Reimbursement Claims (Non-Panel / Outpatient)

Treatment at a non-panel hospital, or a reimbursement claim for pre- or post-hospitalisation costs, can go through three channels.

Online submission is done via the Zurich MyMed app, though it only accepts Pre- and Post-Hospitalisation claims up to RM1,000 per submission. Claims above this amount, or other claim types, need to go through a branch or the TPA directly instead.

The other two options are handing compiled documents to the servicing Wealth Planner or Agent, or dropping off physical documents at any Zurich branch nationwide.

More Information

What is Zurich Smart Health all about?

Zurich Smart Health is a standalone medical insurance plan built around a RM1,000,000 annual limit with no lifetime cap, with coverage continuing until age 100. Policyholders choose between two Deductible options, RM500 or RM5,000 per policy year, depending on how much they want to pay out of pocket versus save on premiums.

The Deductible doesn't apply across the board. Emergency treatment, care at government healthcare facilities, and out-patient cancer or kidney dialysis treatment are all exempt, so policyholders aren't held back from getting care in these situations.

How much does the plan cover?

Zurich Smart Health pays for hospital room and board, ICU and high dependency unit stays (up to 120 days per policy year), surgical fees, anaesthetist fees, and operating theatre charges, all subject to the chosen Deductible unless an exemption applies.

Out-patient benefits are also included. Kidney dialysis treatment and cancer treatment are covered with the Deductible waived entirely, while accidental out-patient treatment is covered if sought within 72 hours of the accident and continued for up to 31 days. Physiotherapy after hospital discharge or surgery is covered up to RM5,000 a year, as long as treatment starts within 180 days of the discharge or procedure.

There's also a Compassionate Benefit of RM10,000, paid out on the death of the Life Assured, and this amount sits outside the RM1,000,000 Annual Limit rather than eating into it.

Who can apply for this policy?

Anyone between 14 days old and 70 years old (attained age) can apply for Zurich Smart Health. Policyholders who sign up before turning 70 stay covered up to age 100, after which the policy simply continues on an annual renewal basis.

There's also a Step-Up Advantage built into the plan. After 5 years, policyholders can upgrade to a new plan version without going through fresh medical underwriting, subject to the terms at the time.

Will I get a refund if I cancel?

Zurich Smart Health comes with a 15-day cooling-off period, counted from the date the policy is delivered. Policyholders who cancel within this window get the full premium refunded, minus any medical expenses already incurred, if applicable.

Do I get a medical card?

Policyholders receive a Zurich medical card for cashless admission at any panel hospital, so there's no need to settle bills upfront and claim later. For other queries, Zurich's Medical Claims & Hospital Admission Assistance line runs 24 hours via the MiCare hotline at 1-800-88-2318, or through the Zurich MyMed app.
