What do I need to know?
The progressive Personal Accident is an essential personal protection plan for everyone who needs a little extra care in their lives. It is slightly less expensive compared to a medical insurance plan, but just as beneficial when it comes to offering you care.
How much does it cover?
Since personal accident plans cover accidents and often the most obvious results, the policy will cover accidental death as well as permanent disablement. Then again, not all accidents lead to those two outcomes, therefore the policy will also cover temporary total disablement and partial disablement, meaning if you broke your arm or leg and need some financial backing while healing.
Of course, that then begs the question about hospitalization and medical care. Not to worry, this policy will provide a medical expense cover for the time you spend in the hospital seeking care for injuries pertaining to accidents.
Finally, should you have terrible luck and have been dealt the hand of death, this policy will give you a financial cover for funeral expenses and/or repatriation of your mortal remains. Which might ease up the financial strain to your family.
Who can apply for this policy?
The plan is open to everyone, if you are over 18 and can afford to pay monthly premiums then the plan is yours. Keep in mind that this is in an individual plan and you won’t be able to include your children or spouse into the plan. There is a family personal accident plan offered by Progressive Insurance if you wanted to check that out, for you and your family.
You can however purchase a separate plan for your kids if they are at least 16 years old. The maximum entry age for this policy is 64 and if you have already purchased the policy before then, you can continue to renew the policy till your 70th birthday.
What if I wanted to cancel my policy?
That is a decision entirely up to you. When you pick up the policy, there is a 15-day cooling period in which you can choose to cancel your policy and get back any premiums you might have paid. Please take note that after this cooling period, it would be more difficult to get a refund when you cancel your policy.
