How do I open the account?

It is an incredibly easy account to sign up for. Simply have your NRIC with you and a copy of your child’s birth certificate and NRIC as well. That’s all you need.

You will have to open the account on behalf on your child, with them being not of a legal age to sign contracts and legal documents. However, the child in question will have full access to the account, especially if they are over the age of 12. At 12, they will get to hold onto an ATM card attached to this account.

You will only need RM20 to open this account. It is also required that the minimum balance in the account to keep it open is also RM20.

What’s the interest rate?

The great thing about this account is that, there is interest earned on whatever the account balance is. From RM20 to RM50,000 there is an interest rate of 2.95% p.a. Interest rates are calculated daily and credited monthly on the 15th of each calendar month.

There will be a bonus rate of 5% earned every month that no withdrawals are made, whatever the balance.

Are there restrictions?
