Frequently Asked Questions about Apex Securities Share Margin Financing

Things you might want to know

How much is Apex Securities willing to finance?

You will have to maintain a margin of 60% on your investment borrowing with an allowance of RM50000 as the minimum amount. There is no buffer before hitting the maintenance margin, so going over 60% will directly result in a margin call.

A margin call doesn't mean defaulting on your investments, it is just a warning to re-balance your collateral back to the approved margin.

What kind of collateral can I pledge?

There are only two types of collateral accepted by Apex Securities:

CollateralLeverage
Cash1.6 times
Quoted Shares
0.5 times

The credit limit on your quoted shares will be determined by the type of shares that you currently hold.

Is there a cash withdrawal feature?

Upon request, you will be able to withdraw cash from your margin account. You can withdraw as long as you do not breach your margin call threshold.

Can I choose my own broker?

Yes you can! But only if the brokering firm is attached to Apex Securities.

What documents will I need?

Below are a list of documents that you can bring along to support your application:

  • SMF application form duly completed
  • Photocopy of NRIC
  • Latest 3 months payslip
  • Latest 3 months bank statement
