How much will Maybank be willing to lend for it's share margin option?
This one's especially for the high-rollers. Maybank will be willing to finance up to a margin of 70% or a minimum amount of RM50000, which can be stretched up to as much as, wait for it...RM20 million!
In the event that your borrowings ratio goes above 72% during the course of your investment, you will then be entering margin call territory, where you will have to lodge additional collateral in the form of cash or shares.
What can I deposit as collateral?
Maybank will accept the following as collateral:
|fixed deposit||2.5 times|
|quoted shares||1.5 times|
Will I be able to withdraw cash from the account?
Yes, you can do so. Withdrawals can be made for up to a margin of 65% on your account, well below the margin call line.
Can I choose my own broker?
Unfortunately, you will have to go with Maybank on this one, as you will be appointed a remisier by bank. If you choose to carry out your investment online, you will be able to enjoy discounted trading fees and other convenient features via Maybank2u.
I am not Malaysian, will I be eligible?
Malaysians and foreigners (Singapore and Brunei only) aged between 21 to 65 years will be able to apply for the Maybank Share Margin Financing.
