    What is the Etiqa World Traveller Care Platinum about?

    The Etiqa World Traveller Care is a comprehensive travel insurance policy designed to cover you if you meet with unforeseen incidents while you travel. The Platinum plan is the highest tier among the 4 plans offered under the travel insurance policy. It provides one of the best worldwide coverage and a variety of benefits to the traveller whether as an individual or family.

    Who is this plan for?

    As ideal as it may sound, not everyone travels light and with minimal baggage. These days, to immortalise those priceless memories, you can expect travellers to lug along items costing a few thousands like a DSLR or mirrorless camera, an iPad, a smartphone, a laptop and a spare mobile phone in case of emergencies.

    Losing these items could be devastating as not only your photos or travel itinerary would be gone, it also results in some financial loss. It’s worse if you’re travelling as a freelance writer or if it’s a business trip.

    This plan could be ideal for business travellers, professional videographers or photographers, freelancers and anyone who wishes to bring a couple of gadgets along for the trip.

    What are the advantages of the Platinum Plan?

    Compared to the Domestic, Silver and Gold plans, the Etiqa World Traveller Care Platinum is the only plan which provides coverage for alternative treatment after you’ve been discharged from the hospital.

    If you’ve been injured and hospitalised during the trip, Etiqa will reimburse the travel and accommodation expenses for 1 person to be with you and help you in your journey home. Etiqa will also reimburse you for additional expenses for 1 person to take care of your children back home while you are hospitalised.

    Besides that, you’ll also be reimbursed for losses or damages to your baggage, personal effects, money and travel documents, at a higher limit compared to the Gold plan.

    Who is eligible to apply?

    For individuals, you must be between 18 to 70 years old to be eligible to apply for this policy. Senior citizens between 71 to 80 years old are also encouraged to apply, and if you wish to provide coverage for your children under the family plan, they must be at least 45 days old and below 23 years old if still studying full-time.

    How do I make a claim?

    All claims must be notified to Etiqa as soon as you can, within 30 days after any event which may entitle you to claim under the policy. You’ll need to send all relevant supporting documents and evidence required by Etiqa to verify the claim.

    If you’ve lost some money, you must make a police report within 24 hours at the nearest police station which has jurisdiction over the location which the loss occurred.

    For assistance, you may call the 24-hour Travel and Medical Assistance Helpline at 03-2161 0270. To be safe, all original receipts and supporting documents such as boarding passes should be filed safely in case anything happens.

    When does the cover start and end for each trip?

    For international trips, the coverage starts when you’re still in Malaysia, 6 hours before the booked flight departure time for direct flights, and ends either 6 hours after your booked flight arrival time in Malaysia, immediately upon arriving at your home in Malaysia, or the expiry of the period of insurance as specified in your policy.

    For domestic trips, the coverage starts from the effective date of the policy from 12:01am Malaysian time and ends either immediately upon arriving at your home of residence in Malaysia, or the expiry of the period of insurance at 11:59pm Malaysian time on the date specified in the policy.

    Are there any additional fees or charges that I have to pay?

    A commission fee for the insurance agent at a rate of 25% of the premium will be charged, besides the usual Stamp Duty or RM10. However, the GST of 6% only applies to the Domestic plan and is not applicable for the Platinum plan.
