What is the Berjaya Sompo Travel Plus Basic About?
The Berjaya Sompo Travel Plus Basic is the entry-level plan under the Travel Plus comprehensive travel insurance offered by Berjaya Sompo Insurance Berhad.
In the event of bodily injury, disability or death caused solely by violent, accidental, external and visible means during the trip, the policy provides compensation to people travelling abroad and domestically.
What are the Main Benefits of This Travel Insurance Policy?
Being one of the more affordable travel insurance plans available in the market, the Basic plan covers only the essentials such as accidental death or permanent total disablement, medical and hospital expenses, compassionate visitation care and benefit, child care benefit, and emergency medical evacuations.
You won’t get other additional benefits including hospital allowance, loss or damaged baggage, travel delays, cancellations or other travel inconveniences.
Simply put, the coverage provided is as simple and as straightforward as it can get.
Who Can be Insured?
All Malaysian citizens, Permanent Residents, Employment Pass / Work Permit Holders legally employed in Malaysia along with their spouse and children are eligible to apply for coverage.
What are the Coverage Areas?
Area 1: Australia, Brunei, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Laos, Macau, within Malaysia, Maldives, Myanmar, New Zealand, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.
Area 2: Worldwide excluding USA and Canada.
Area 3: Worldwide including USA and Canada.
Excluded Countries: Belarus, Cuba, Democratic Republic of Congo, Iran, North Korea, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Zimbabwe.
Does This Cover Travel within Malaysia?
Yes, travel within Malaysia is covered. Do note that for travel within Malaysia, your coverage benefit will follow the column “Malaysia”.
For travel from East Malaysia to West Malaysia and vice versa, your coverage benefit will follow the column “Asia”.
How Do I Make the Payment for the Purchase of the Policy?
Payment for the premium must be paid before coverage can be granted.
The payment can be made by cash, credit card or cheque, and you should insist on a receipt as proof of payment made and for future reference if you need to file for claims.
How Do I Make a Claim?
In case of any injury, accident, loss or damage that incur claimable expenses, you will need to give written notice to Berjaya Sompo within 30 days of the incident, stating the full details of the event, including all original bills and receipts.
Can I Renew My Policy?
If you have purchased the Annual Cover plan, the anniversary of the policy will be exactly one year after the effective date of your current policy.
On each anniversary, the policy will be renewable at the premium rates in effect at that particular time as notified by Berjaya Sompo.
If the premium rate will be increased, a notice of 30 days will be given by the company.
If you wish to upgrade to a higher plan with better benefits, you can only do so on renewal and is subject to the approval by Berjaya Sompo.
Can I Cancel My Policy?
You’ll need to give written notice to Berjaya Sompo Insurance Berhad informing the company of your intention to cancel the policy.
However, the premium will not be refunded to you once the policy has been issued.
