What is the Berjaya Sompo Travel Plus Elite About?
This travel insurance policy is one of the few policies offered by Berjaya Sompo Insurance Berhad.
An Elite policy is one of the most beneficial as it covers all of the bases with no room for error.
The Travel Plus Elite covers you in the event of injury, bodily harm, disability, and death among other inconveniences that can occur while on a trip.
What Does It Cover?
Besides the death and permanent disability, this policy also takes into consideration hospital expenses, emergency transportation, medical evacuation, and follow up treatments.
Berjaya Sompo understands that there is always the possibility of things going sideways, especially on a plane, despite it being the safest way to travel.
Therefore, you are covered for the run of the mill travel inconveniences such as flight delays, missed connections, loss or delay of luggage.
However, you are also covered in case of a hijacking and personal liability.
What are the Coverage Areas?
Area 1: Australia, Brunei, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Laos, Macau, within Malaysia, Maldives, Myanmar, New Zealand, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.
Area 2: Worldwide excluding USA and Canada.
Area 3: Worldwide including USA and Canada.
Excluded Countries: Belarus, Cuba, Democratic Republic of Congo, Iran, North Korea, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Zimbabwe.
Does This Cover Travel Within Malaysia?
Yes, travel within Malaysia is covered. Do note that for travel within Malaysia, your coverage benefit will follow the column “Malaysia”.
For travel from East Malaysia to West Malaysia and vice versa, your coverage benefit will follow the column “Asia”.
Who is Eligible for This Policy?
Pretty much everyone. if you are a Malaysian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or if you are a legal Work Permit or Employment Pass holder then you are eligible to apply.
The age limit for children is 30 days and for families, your kids need to be under the age of 23 and still studying for the umbrella to work.
Above that, individuals 18 onwards can pick up this policy independently.
How Do I Make a Claim?
In case of injury, loss of luggage, accident or other such occurrences, you are advised to inform Berjaya Sompo within 30 days of the incident.
Remember to state the full details of the incident with supporting documents, such as medical or police reports, bills and receipts.
Is This a Renewable Policy?
if you picked up the Annual Cover plan for this policy then you can renew it exactly one year from the date of purchase.
If there is an increase of the premium rates, then you will be notified 30 days in advance by Berjaya Sompo.
Otherwise, the plan can work on a per-trip basis, without you being bonded to the company.
Can I Cancel This Policy?
Yes of course. To cancel you will need to deliver a written notice to Berjaya Sompo to inform them of your intention to cancel.
Unfortunately, there will be no return of the premiums paid up until that point.
