What is Z-Travel Insurance (Domestic) Lite?
Domestic Lite is Zurich's online-only plan for trips within Malaysia, built for a quick checkout rather than a visit to an agent. Unlike the standard plan, Lite comes in a single all-in-one tier with basic coverage, useful for a short weekend trip where you mainly want accident and medical protection sorted without much fuss.
What's included in the Lite plan?
| Benefit | Limit |
| Accidental Death and Permanent Disablement | RM20,000 |
| Accidental Medical Expenses | RM5,000 |
| Travel Cancellation | RM2,000 |
| Travel Delay (by flight, min. 6 hrs) | Up to RM450 |
| Baggage Delay (by flight, min. 6 hrs) | Up to RM200 |
Limits shown are per insured person. Refer to the policy wording for full terms and conditions.
What doesn't Lite cover compared to the standard plan?
Four benefits on the standard Basic/VIP plan don't carry over to Lite at all, such as accidental hospital income, evacuation and repatriation, baggage and personal effects, and personal liability. Golf equipment cover is also excluded.
If any of those matter for the trip, say you're worried about liability while renting sports equipment, or want hospital income if you're laid up for a few days, the agent-sold Basic or VIP plan is the better fit.
Who's eligible, and is buying online cheaper?
Malaysians and non-Malaysians with permanent residency, a valid work permit, entry permit or MM2H status are eligible for trips within Malaysia. Entry runs 30 days old to 80 years old for the insured person or spouse, with children on a Family plan covered from 30 days old to 17, or 23 if still studying full-time.
On pricing, Zurich's premium table shows Lite figures already worked out after a 25% rebate, so the numbers displayed are lower than the standard plan's rate.
Covid-19 add-on for Lite
Available as an optional add-on, covering trip cancellation, medical expenses, hospital allowance and a death benefit linked to Covid-19. A claim requires an approved vaccination, unless you're medically exempt or under 18.
Trip length and SST for Lite plan
The Lite plan has a 60-day cap per journey (similar to the standard plan), with no annual multi-trip version available. It's also subject to 8% SST, so factor that into the final price shown at checkout.
