What does Z-Travel Insurance (Domestic) cover?
Z-Travel Insurance (Domestic) is a travel plan for trips within Malaysia, sold through Zurich's authorised agents rather than bought online.
It's built around two tiers, Basic and VIP, covering accidental death and permanent disablement, accidental medical expenses, hospital income, evacuation within Malaysia, travel cancellation and delay, baggage protection, personal liability and even golf equipment.
How do the Basic and VIP plans compare?
The gap between the two tiers comes down to two benefits: accidental death and disablement, and medical expenses. Everything else pays out at the same limit on either tier:
| Benefits | Basic Plan | VIP Plan |
| Accidental Death and Permanent Disablement | RM50,000 | RM100,000 |
| Accidental Medical Expenses | RM5,000 | RM10,000 |
| Accidental Hospital Income | RM100/day, up to 60 days | RM100/day, up to 60 days |
| Evacuation and Repatriation | Unlimited (within Malaysia) | Unlimited (within Malaysia) |
| Travel Cancellation | RM2,000 | RM2,000 |
| Travel Interruption (by flight) | RM2,000 | RM2,000 |
| Travel Delay (by flight, min. 6 hrs) | Up to RM450 | Up to RM450 |
| Baggage Delay (by flight, min. 6 hrs) | Up to RM200 | Up to RM200 |
| Baggage and Personal Effects | RM500 | RM500 |
| Personal Liability | RM500,000 | RM500,000 |
| Golf Equipment (theft or damage only) | RM1,000 | RM1,000 |
Evacuation and Repatriation also pays up to RM50,000 for evacuation out of Malaysia on both tiers. Limits shown are per insured person; refer to the policy wording for full terms.
Who can buy this plan, and what age applies?
This plan is open to Malaysians and non-Malaysians with permanent residency, a valid work permit, entry permit, or MM2H status, provided the trip stays within Malaysia.
Entry runs from 30 days old to 80 years old for the insured person or their spouse. Children on a Family plan can join from 30 days old to 17, or up to 23 if they're studying full-time, and a parent or guardian has to buy the policy on their behalf.
Is there a limit on trip length?
Yes. Each journey is capped at 60 consecutive days, with no option to extend once you've already left home. There's also no annual multi-trip version of this plan; every policy covers one journey at a time.
Can I add Covid-19 protection?
Yes, as an optional add-on on either tier, covering trip cancellation, medical expenses, hospital allowance and a death benefit tied to Covid-19. A claim needs an approved vaccination behind it, unless you're medically exempt or under 18.
