Who is eligible to buy Zurich travel insurance?
You'll need to be a Malaysian citizen, or a non-Malaysian with permanent resident status, a valid work permit, a valid student permit or MM2H status. For a Single Trip, your journey has to start and end in Malaysia. For a One-Way Trip, it just needs to start from Malaysia.
The entry age ranges from 30 days old to 70 years old for Individual, Individual & Spouse, and Family Cover. Travellers aged 71 to 85 can be covered under Senior Cover for Single Trip and One-Way Trip, or through renewal on an Annual Plan. Children on a Family Cover plan can be aged 30 days to 17, or up to 23 if they're a full-time student, and the policy must be bought by a parent or legal guardian if the child is the one being insured.
Which countries does Z-Travel Insurance cover?
Coverage is split into three areas, and you pick the one that matches your destination:
- Area 1: Australia, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brunei, Cambodia, China (excluding Tibet and Mongolia), Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Laos, Macau, Maldives, Myanmar, New Zealand, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.
- Area 2: Worldwide, excluding Canada, Mongolia, Nepal, Tibet and the USA.
- Area 3: Worldwide, no exclusions.
There's no country that's off-limits entirely, though Malaysian passport holders should note that entry into Israel requires proper documentation, and Zurich excludes travel to war zones from coverage.
Does Zurich Z-Travel Insurance cover Covid-19?
Covid-19 cover isn't automatic. It's an optional add-on for an extra premium, covering things like travel cancellation, overseas medical expenses, hospital allowance and death due to Covid-19. One condition to know: you won't be covered if you haven't had an approved Covid-19 vaccination, unless you're medically exempt or a child under 18.
Is there a maximum trip duration?
Yes. A Single Trip can't exceed 200 days, and each journey under an Annual Plan can't exceed 100 days. If you're heading overseas for longer than 100 days in one stretch, a One-Way Trip policy (which covers 1 to 5 days before you land at your destination) is the more suitable option.
Can I cancel my policy after buying it?
It depends on the trip type. Single Trip and One-Way Trip policies can't be cancelled once issued. Annual Plans can be cancelled at any time, provided you haven't made a claim, though Zurich will retain short-period rates for the time the policy was in force.
How do I make a claim on my Zurich travel insurance?
Notify Zurich within 24 hours of the incident, and submit your claim within 30 days of the loss or damage. Claims can be filed online, followed by the original supporting documents.
Who do I call for emergency medical assistance while overseas?
Call the 24-Hour Travel Assistance Helpline at +603 7841 5630, run by Europ Assistance Services (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd. This is the number to use if you need to be admitted to hospital, arrange evacuation, or need help coordinating emergency care abroad.
What documents do I need to file a claim?
