Moomoo Cash Plus Lets You Earn Potential Returns On Idle Cash
Moomoo Cash Plus lets you invest idle cash in selected money market funds, including Shariah-compliant ones, while keeping it available for eligible trading activities.
These funds primarily invest in cash management instruments such as bank deposits and short-term government bonds. The returns are market-linked and can vary with the performance of the underlying funds, so neither the return nor your principal is guaranteed.
You can start investing with as little as RM0.01, with no subscription or redemption fees and no lock-in period.
SmartSave Automates Your Idle Cash Management
SmartSave helps manage eligible idle cash in your Moomoo MY Universal Account through two functions: SmartSave-Buy and SmartSave-Sell.
SmartSave-Buy automatically invests eligible idle MYR cash in Cash Plus each business day at 7.00 am. You can set aside a reserve amount or pause automatic purchases at any time, so you don't have to make each Cash Plus purchase manually.
SmartSave-Sell lets you use up to 95% of your Cash Plus holdings as buying power for eligible trading activities. Moomoo keeps the remaining 5% to account for potential changes in the fund's NAV and foreign exchange rates.
For example, if you have RM10,000 in Cash Plus, up to RM9,500 may be available as buying power, subject to the applicable trading requirements.
This buying power can support activities such as trading in Malaysian and overseas stocks, eligible IPO subscriptions, and repayment of account deficits in the same currency. However, specific requirements vary by market and product.
Cash Plus Has No Lock-In Period
You can redeem your Cash Plus investment when you need the money because there is no lock-in period or redemption fee.
Redemption is subject to the processing arrangements of the underlying money market fund. Moomoo also states that large-scale redemptions may be delayed or temporarily suspended to manage liquidity risk.
If SmartSave is enabled, Cash Plus holdings cannot be withdrawn directly. You need to redeem the investment and, where applicable, pause SmartSave-Buy before withdrawing the redeemed cash.
No Subscription Or Redemption Fees
Moomoo charges RM0 for subscribing to and redeeming Cash Plus.
The underlying funds may charge management fees. These are accrued from the fund assets and reflected in the fund’s NAV rather than charged separately when you subscribe or redeem.
| Fee | Charge |
|---|---|
| Subscription fee | RM0 |
| Redemption fee | RM0 |
| Fund management fee | Reflected in fund NAV |
You Can Start Investing From RM0.01
Moomoo states that the minimum investment for Cash Plus is RM0.01, subject to the requirements of the selected fund. There is no fixed investment tenure, so you do not need to commit your money for a set period.
Cash Plus And Cash Sweep Use Different Investment Structures
Cash Plus and Cash Sweep both help you manage idle cash in your Moomoo account, but your money is invested differently.
| Feature | Cash Plus | Cash Sweep |
|---|---|---|
| Where your money is invested | Money market funds | Partner bank fixed deposits |
| Return | Market-linked yield | Fixed interest |
| Lock-in period | None | Fixed deposit terms may apply |
| Redemption | No redemption fee | Early redemption may result in loss of interest |
| Main purpose | Earn potential returns while keeping funds accessible | Earn fixed deposit interest on idle cash |
Cash Plus may suit investors who prefer market-linked returns and flexible redemption, while Cash Sweep may suit those who prefer the structure of fixed deposits.
