About You

RinggitPlus is Malaysia's leading personal finance platform. Millions of Malaysians use our site to find credit cards, personal loans, and practical money advice. We've built something that genuinely helps people – and now we're expanding how we speak to them.

We're looking for a writer to create financial content in Bahasa Malaysia. Not stiff, textbook BM – real Malaysian BM that connects with government sector employees, rural communities, and anyone who finds English financial content a bit off-putting. The Malay-language website exists; it needs a strong voice.

What You'll Do

  • Write original Bahasa Malaysia content for the RinggitPlus blog – news pieces, advice articles, money guides, and the occasional piece about the emotional side of personal finance.

  • Craft social media copy for Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok to promote your content and grow our BM audience.

  • Produce around four pieces daily – achievable because you'll work with AI tools that handle the heavy lifting while you focus on voice, accuracy, and connection.

  • Localise selected content from our English site and create original pieces based on what BM readers care about.

  • Monitor what resonates with the audience and feed insights back to the team.

What You Have

  • Native or near-native Bahasa Malaysia – comfortable with slang, idioms, and how Malaysians actually talk about money.

  • Working proficiency in English for internal communication and content localisation.

  • Experience with AI writing tools (Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini) – you understand prompt engineering and how to iterate.

  • Social media copywriting skills and a sense of what performs on different platforms.

  • WordPress or equivalent CMS experience.

  • Basic SEO understanding – keywords, meta descriptions, internal linking.

  • Around 3 years of relevant experience (though we care more about your portfolio than your CV).

What You're Like

  • You know when to stop editing – AI makes endless iteration easy, but you can tell when something is good enough to publish.

  • You spot AI slop a mile off – the buzzwords, the hedging, the "it's important to note" phrases, the missing emotional stakes.

  • You're genuinely interested in personal finance – credit cards, loans, budgeting, Islamic finance. This stuff matters to you.

  • You understand Malay norms around discussing money, the importance of maruah, and can write content that feels respectful and relatable.

  • You generate ideas independently and don't wait to be briefed on everything.

  • You're reliable – you show up, meet deadlines, and communicate proactively when there's a problem.

The Opportunity

Your work will be read by people making real financial decisions. This isn't vapid marketing copy – it's practical guidance that helps families. If that sounds like work worth doing, we'd like to hear from you.
