What Is The Bank Rakyat Perodua Credit Card-i?
The Bank Rakyat Perodua Credit Card-i is a Mastercard credit card from Bank Rakyat, made for Perodua customers and Perodua/PDA staff.
The card earns 5x Rakyat Rewards points on fuel, car servicing, Takaful and EV charging. You also pay no mark-up on foreign currency transactions, get free Group Family Takaful and RM1,000 Khairat Kematian, and get up to 3% back on profit charges through Rakyat Rebate.
It's a Shariah-compliant card, so Bank Rakyat charges profit instead of interest, under a Murabahah contract using Tawarruq.
Collect 5x Rakyat Rewards On Car Expenses With Bank Rakyat Perodua Credit Card-i
You get 5x Rakyat Rewards points for every RM10 you spend at petrol stations, car service centres, on Takaful and at EV chargers. Everything else earns 1 point per RM10.
You can convert your Rakyat Rewards to cash at RM0.10 per 10 points. That makes it similar to cashback, at 0.5% back on car spending and 0.1% on all other retail spending.
So if you spend RM1,000 a month on fuel, servicing and Takaful, you'll earn 500 points, or RM5.
Your points stay valid for 3 years, and you can redeem them on the Perodua loyalty platform.
Do note that only local, Shariah-compliant transactions earn 5x points, and the merchant has to be registered under one of these Merchant Category Codes (MCC): 5411 and 5542 for petrol stations, 5532, 7538 and 5521 for car services, 5552 for EV charging, and 5960 and 6300 for Takaful. A workshop or petrol kiosk registered under a different code earns 1 point per RM10 instead.
No Annual Fee
Bank Rakyat waives the annual fee on both the principal and supplementary cards, with no minimum spend or usage needed to keep it free.
To apply, you need to be at least 21 years old (18 for supplementary cardholders) and earn at least RM24,000 a year, or RM2,000 a month.
A Lower Profit Rate When You Pay On Time
Bank Rakyat sets your profit rate based on how you've paid your bill.
For example, if you've paid at least the minimum amount on time for the last 9 months in a row, you'll pay 13.5% p.a. instead of the top rate of 18% p.a. Bank Rakyat share members pay even less, at 13.0% p.a.
Up To 3% Rakyat Rebate On Profit Charges
Rakyat Rebate gives you back part of the profit Bank Rakyat charges you, and the rate goes up each year you keep the card. Each part of the rebate has its own condition, so you only get the full 3% in the third year if you meet all of them:
| Items | Year 1 | Year 2 | Year 3 |
| Auto debit facility | 0.5% | 0.5% | 0.5% |
| Good paymaster | 1.0% | 1.0% | 1.5% |
| Other financing facilities at Bank Rakyat | 0.5% | 1.0% | 1.0% |
| Total Rakyat Rebate | 2.0% | 2.5% | 3.0% |
The rebate comes off your outstanding balance on statement date. You're only charged profit when you don't pay your bill in full. If you clear it every month, there's nothing to rebate.
Free Group Family Takaful Coverage And Khairat Kematian
Your card comes with free Group Family Takaful cover, which guarantees that any outstanding balance on the card is paid off.
On top of that, the cardholder's beneficiary receives RM1,000 in Khairat Kematian if the cardholder dies.
No Mark-Up On Overseas Spending And 0% Instalments
Most banks charge 1% to 3% on top of every foreign currency transaction. With this card, you pay Mastercard's exchange rate and nothing more, whether you're overseas or shopping online in another currency.
You can also turn retail purchases of RM1,000 and above into 0% instalments.
