Who Is Suitable To Buy AIA A-Plus Health 2?
AIA A-Plus Health 2 comes in two plans, Plan 200 and Plan 300, and it suits you if you already have medical cover and want a big limit on top. Plan 200 has a RM1.5 million annual limit (RM1.7 million on Plan 300) with no lifetime limit, and at age 30, the cost of insurance is RM673 a year for a man or RM594 for a woman. If you'd rather pay a smaller share of each hospital bill, or you don't want an investment plan attached, look at other plans and standalone medical cards instead.
A-Plus Health 2 isn't a medical card you can buy on its own. It's a rider, which is an add-on to an AIA regular premium investment-linked plan such as A-LifeLink 2. Once you've paid the first RM20,000 each year, it pays eligible hospital and surgery bills plus listed outpatient treatment. There's no separate bill for it either. AIA deducts the rider's monthly cost from your plan's account value, which is the value of the investment funds you hold under the plan.

You can also read AIA's current A-Plus Health 2 brochure (June 2026). AIA still hosts older versions that list different deductible options.

Checked 13 October 2026 against AIA's A-Plus Health 2 brochure (June 2026) and the A-LifeLink 2 product disclosure sheet (22 December 2025), which covers A-LifeLink 2 and its riders.
Cost of insurance is what this rider costs you. AIA deducts it from your plan's account value every month. It's based on your attained age (the age you've reached), so it rises as you get older, and it isn't guaranteed. These rates are for standard risk in occupation class 1 and 2, which is AIA's standard rate for people whose health and job carry no extra risk. AIA says your total premium and policy terms can vary based on its underwriting requirements, so your quote may differ.
The rider sits on an A-LifeLink 2 policy, so that policy's disclosure sheet also lists an RM3 monthly medical service charge. It covers the administration cost of engaging a third-party administrator. If charges ever increase faster than your premium covers, you'll need to pay extra into your plan to keep the cover going.
AIA's June 2026 brochure offers one cost-saving option, which is a RM20,000 annual deductible. You pay the first RM20,000 of eligible inpatient expenses (bills from a hospital stay) each year, and the plan pays the rest up to the annual limit. On a RM35,000 inpatient bill, you'd pay RM20,000 and AIA would pay RM15,000, assuming every charge is eligible.
Once you reach 60, you can convert to a RM500 deductible per disability (each illness or injury) without underwriting, which means AIA won't reassess your health or keep the RM20,000 deductible. The brochure doesn't say what the converted plan will cost, so ask AIA for a quote before you decide.
Pros And Cons Of AIA A-Plus Health 2
Pros
- There's no lifetime limit to worry about, and your annual limit resets every year, at RM1.5 million on Plan 200 and RM1.7 million on Plan 300.
- Room and board (RM200 on Plan 200, RM300 on Plan 300) and intensive care unit (ICU) stays have no cap on the number of days per year.
- Each claim-free year gives you a No-Claim Bonus of RM1,500 (Plan 200) or RM1,700 (Plan 300) in your Health Wallet, up to 10 times. You can use it for health screening, vaccinations, artificial limbs, hearing aids and recovery care for cancer, stroke and heart attack, though you can't withdraw it as cash.
- If you use up the RM1.5 million or RM1.7 million annual limit, your Health Wallet balance can pay the remaining eligible expenses.
- At 60, you can convert to a RM500 deductible without going through underwriting again.
Cons
- You can't buy it alone, because it needs an AIA investment-linked plan that adds a RM3 monthly medical service charge on top of the rider's cost. The cover can also end if your account value can't pay the charges and you don't top up.
- You'll pay the first RM20,000 of inpatient bills yourself every year.
- The cost of insurance isn't guaranteed and rises steeply as you age. A man on Plan 200 pays RM673 at age 30, RM1,478 at age 50 and RM4,815 at age 70.
- Pre-existing illnesses (illnesses you had before buying) aren't covered, and specified illnesses carry a 120-day waiting period.
- It has no benefit for general panel clinic or telemedicine visits, which AIA's newer A-Plus Health360 covers at up to RM50 per visit.
What AIA A-Plus Health 2 Doesn't Cover

- Admissions for check-ups or investigation only, and treatment for weight loss or gain
- Outpatient kidney dialysis if the first symptoms appear within 30 days of the rider starting, and outpatient cancer treatment within 60 days

Two Similar Plans
Prudential PRUMillion Med 2.0 is also a rider on an investment-linked plan, with no lifetime limit and an annual limit of up to RM8 million. For a man aged 26 to 30, with RM200 room and board, Prudential's published rate is RM900 a year with a RM500 deductible. With a RM10,000 deductible, it's RM408. Prudential's deductible options are RM500, RM1,000, RM5,000 and RM10,000. A-Plus Health 2 has a single RM20,000 option, which gives RM673 at age 30.
AIA A-Life MediFlex is AIA's other conventional medical plan. Its annual limit is up to RM350,000. With the A-Plus MediBoost rider, it's RM1 million on Plan 250 and RM1.5 million on Plan 350, versus RM1.5 million on A-Plus Health 2's Plan 200. Room and board is RM180, RM250 or RM350 a day for up to 150 days a year, whereas A-Plus Health 2 has no day cap. It also has a RM20,000 deductible per policy year option, just like A-Plus Health 2.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I apply for AIA A-Plus Health 2?
You apply through an AIA Life Planner, who'll attach the rider to a regular premium investment-linked plan such as A-LifeLink 2. Before you decide, ask for a needs analysis, the sales illustration and the product disclosure sheet, and check that you're being quoted A-Plus Health 2 and not A-Plus Health360. When you apply, state your age and medical history accurately, because AIA can reject a claim or end the policy if you leave out material facts.
What's the difference between A-Plus Health and A-Plus Health 2?
A-Plus Health is the earlier version, and AIA ran an upgrade campaign in 2024 to move selected customers to A-Plus Health 2. According to AIA's upgrade FAQ, A-Plus Health covers room and board for up to 150 days a year, while A-Plus Health 2 has no day limit. Pre-hospitalisation care is 60 days versus 90, post-hospitalisation care is 150 days versus 180 (365 for serious conditions), and the shared screening and vaccination limit is RM300 a year versus RM500. If you already hold the older plan, check your policy schedule to see which terms apply.
How is AIA A-Plus Health 2 different from A-Plus Health360?
A-Plus Health360 is AIA's newer rider, covering visits to AIA panel clinics and telemedicine (online doctor consultations) through the AIA+ app, up to RM50 per visit and three visits a year from the Health Wallet. A-Plus Health 2's brochure doesn't list a panel clinic or telemedicine visit benefit, so compare both brochures before you choose. If you're thinking of switching, AIA warns it can bring fresh underwriting and new waiting periods.
Is AIA A-Plus Health 2 covered overseas?
Yes, it provides worldwide cover, paid at the reasonable and customary charges for the same treatment in Malaysia. That stops if you live or travel outside Malaysia for more than 90 consecutive days, except in Singapore and Brunei. For emergencies, medical evacuation and repatriation (being returned home) is covered up to USD1,000,000 per event.
What does AIA Vitality add to A-Plus Health 2?
AIA Vitality costs RM10 a month and is open from age 16. At Gold status, you get a RM250 hospitalisation care benefit, a 50% room and board upgrade when you're admitted, and a 5% Health Wallet booster every year. Platinum raises these to RM500, 100% and 10%, while Silver and Bronze get none of them.
