How does the SmartTraveller Classic Plan work?
First of all, it’s a travel insurance plan that covers the most important aspects for the occasional traveler in you. It covers everything from personal accident to funeral expenses should anything happen to you while on your travels.
Medical expenses, hospital fees, follow up treatment and medical evacuation are some of the things that come with this cover. It would be an extremely handy insurance policy for backpackers and explorers who’d rather pay the minimum but still have security.
How long am I covered for?
With this plan, you can only purchase insurance for single trips, this means only pick it up as and when you travel. This option saves you money and time, in case you’d like to cancel the policy you are less at the risk of losing any premiums paid.
You can be covered up to a maximum of 31 days per trip. The same rules apply whether you travel individually or with your family in tow. Speaking off this plan is family friendly with premium rates for family insurance.
Am I eligible to apply?
If you fall between the age of 18 and 79 then you are indeed eligible for this plan. For the family plan, the same rules apply with the condition that any kids you place under the plan must be between 30 days of age and 23 years.
How do I make a claim?
Since this plan primarily covers injuries, accidents and all round medical related expenses there are a few pieces of documentation you might need. Firstly, be sure to have an official report in the occurrence of an accident.
Police and hospital reports are sufficient, also ask for a copy of the doctors report regarding your condition and any treatment you need or have received. All receipts for any expenses you paid for relating to treatment or medical care and a written statement documenting the incident, whatever it may be.
After compiling everything, attach it to a claim form that you can download here(insert link). Simply fax, email or post all the documents to Citibank to start the claim process. Remember that you need to do this ASAP, preferably within a week of the incident.
