Who is eligible for BSN SKAP?
SKAP, or Skim Kakitangan Awam Persekutuan, is a personal loan by Bank Simpanan Nasional developed especially for Federal Government servants. You'll get extra low interest rates, calculated on a flat rate basis.
Additionally, BSN will open a GIRO or GIRO-i Savings Account for you when you apply - if you don't have one already!
How much can I borrow?
The minimum borrowing amount for BSN SKAP is RM5,000, while the maximum amount is capped at RM200,000 subject to deductions not exceeding 60% of your monthly salary. Loan periods are between one (1) and ten (10) years.
Will I need a guarantor for this loan?
A guarantor is not required if you're a permanent government staff who has been employed for more than 3 months. Contract or temporary staff who are employed for more than 12 months can apply, provided that they have a guarantor who is a permanent government staff employed for more than 6 months.
My credit score is bad. Can I still apply for this loan?
Depending on your CCRIS reading, you could get your loan approved with BSN. Except, your are subject to a Risk Base Pricing, i.e. a different method of pricing your loan after considering your credit history such as repayment capability and other risk factors.

What documents do I need?
You will need the following documents for your BSN SKAP application:
- A copy of your NRIC
- A copy of latest 1 month's salary slips
- A confirmation letter from your employer with details of your name, NRIC number, designation, monthly salary, date of employment and date of retirement.
If your application requires a guarantor, he or she will need to prepare the same documents as above.
Are the penalties for early settlement?
You can pay off your BSN SKAP loan ahead of schedule if you want to, there are no extra charges for an early loan settlement.
