Simpan SSPN Plus Adds Zurich Takaful As Fourth Operator

Parents saving through Simpan SSPN Plus now have a fourth takaful operator to choose from, after PTPTN appointed Zurich Takaful Malaysia Berhad to the scheme from 1 July 2026.

Zurich Takaful Joins Three Existing Operators

Until now, the three operators attached to Simpan SSPN Plus were Hong Leong MSIG Takaful, Great Eastern Takaful, and Takaful Ikhlas Family. Zurich Takaful joins them as a fourth option.

PTPTN said in a statement that adding Zurich Takaful gives depositors more options to find protection that suits their own needs, while keeping the existing benefits of Simpan SSPN Plus intact. The corporation described the appointment as part of an ongoing effort to strengthen the scheme through partnerships with established takaful operators.

Six Packages, From RM30 To RM500 A Month

Simpan SSPN Plus runs on six packages, and each one splits your monthly payment between education savings and takaful contributions. Only the savings portion goes into the account to earn dividends. The rest pays for your Takaful protection.

PackageMonthly Commitment (RM)Takaful Contribution (RM)
Intan3010
Delima5010
Topas10010
Zamrud20020
Nilam30030
Berlian500300

On the Intan package, RM20 of your RM30 goes into savings. On Berlian, RM300 of the RM500 goes to takaful and RM200 to savings, so committing RM500 instead of RM30 gets you 10 times the savings and 30 times the takaful contribution.

Under the Zurich Takaful plan, PTPTN said the scheme offers takaful protection of up to RM1.2 million, critical illness benefits, a death benefit covering the depositor, spouse, and up to three children, and a hospital admission allowance. Net savings in the account also qualify for income tax relief of up to RM8,000 a year.

Opening an account does not require a medical examination for five of the six packages. For Berlian, the highest tier, you answer three health questions instead of going for a check-up.

What To Compare Before You Pick An Operator

All four operators work within the same six-package structure, so your monthly commitment is fixed by the package you pick, not by the operator. Your choice of operator determines what you get for your money.

Ask each operator for the product disclosure sheet before you commit. Compare the list of critical illnesses covered, the waiting periods before you can claim, the daily hospital allowance, and the exclusions. These vary between operators and are not visible in the maximum protection figure. Really important to do your homework when making a choice.

Details on the packages and the operators are available on the PTPTN portal or through the myPTPTN app.
