Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB) has announced a total income distribution payout of RM882.49 million for its fixed price fund, Amanah Saham Malaysia 2 – Wawasan (ASM 2 Wawasan) fund, for the financial year ending 31 August 2022. It is set to benefit 906,645 unitholders altogether.

PNB also clarified in its statement that ASM 2 Wawasan earned a total gross income of RM1.05 billion and recorded a net realised income of RM725.10 million as of 25 August 2022. Its income is derived from realised gains, dividends, and other income from domestic and international investments. Additionally, income from equities remained a major contributor, with international and domestic investment each contributing 37.3% and 36% to the fund’s gross income, respectively.

Of note, the fund’s allocation of international investment was upped from 14.9% in 2020 to 17.8% to yield this positive result.

“The income distribution of ASM 2 Wawasan is equivalent to total return of 3.75%, above its benchmark Maybank 12-month fixed deposit, which stood at 1.98% by 177 basis points for the financial year to date, up to 30 August 2022,” PNB further shared, adding that the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI also declined by 5.46% during this same period (31 August 2021 to 26 August 2022).

Finally, PNB stated that the income distribution for ASM 2 Wawasan will be calculated based on the average minimum monthly balance held throughout the financial year of the fund. On top of that, the distribution declared will be automatically re-invested as additional units into unitholders’ accounts on 1 September 2022.
