TikTok Shop, one of Malaysia’s trusted e-commerce platforms, has joined forces with the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living to promote safer online shopping through its #ShopSafe campaign.
Launched in conjunction with World Consumer Rights Day, the initiative is designed not only to educate consumers about online safety but also to combat the growing threat of digital scams.
Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali said the collaboration with TikTok Shop aims to raise public awareness about best practices in online shopping, equipping consumers with the knowledge and tools necessary to navigate the digital marketplace securely.
“Most e-commerce scams occur outside official platforms, where scammers direct users to complete transactions via phone numbers, suspicious links, or direct transfers,” he said. “TikTok Shop’s commitment to safeguarding consumers is commendable, and we look forward to continuing our collaboration to tackle online fraud.”

TikTok Shop Malaysia’s Director of Strategic Partnerships, Nur Azre Abdul Aziz, reiterated the platform’s commitment to user safety, describing it as the company’s highest priority.
“Safety is our top priority at TikTok Shop. We continuously invest in people and technologies so Malaysians can enjoy worry-free and secure online shopping experiences, including through our robust return and refund policies,” she said.
She added that the platform actively monitors and prevents fraudulent activity through strict enforcement of product listing and registration guidelines, and by rejecting suspicious sellers and listings.
“Combating online scams is a collaborative effort, and we are immensely thankful to KPDN for their support in educating Malaysians on our #ShopSafe tips. Together, we can keep our community informed and up to date on new scam trends, along with ways to safeguard each other against them,” she said.
As part of the #ShopSafe campaign, TikTok Shop encourages users to conduct all transactions within its official app using secure in-app payment methods, ensuring traceability and protection under the platform’s policies. Consumers are advised to avoid downloading the app from unofficial sources, to be cautious of suspicious links, and to never share personal information such as passwords or payment details. TikTok Shop also provides in-app tools for reporting suspicious activity, and users can reach out to the Help Center for assistance with orders and after-sales support.
