Berjaya Corporation Berhad has advised members of the public to be aware of a scam which makes reference to a “Berjaya Investment Berhad” – a false entity claiming to be affiliated to the public-listed group.
According to Berjaya, the scam involves solicitations for business investments or business ventures. The Berjaya group has confirmed that it has no involvement with the bogus websites which make use of the names “Berjaya Investment, Berjaya Financial Corporation, Tan Sri Chong, and Keith Hunt.”
The public are warned not to respond to any email solicitations from anyone posing as the Berjaya company, its group affiliates, or the company’s officers that appear even remotely suspicious. Berjaya also advised against clicking on links or opening attachments included in any of these emails, as this could result in malware or a virus being loaded into one’s computer.
The group stated that it has made reports to the relevant authorities so that appropriate action can be taken.
