MITRA Channels RM6.7 Million To Indian Community Students, Businesses And Temples

The government has handed out RM6.7 million under three MITRA programmes, covering free tuition for 2,343 SPM and STPM candidates, business grants for 128 entrepreneurs, and funds for 52 Hindu temples. The grants were presented on 11 August 2026 at Dewan Kalamandapam in Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur, by Human Resources Minister Dato’ Sri Ramanan Ramakrishnan.

The Malaysian Indian Transformation Unit (MITRA) manages all three programmes and reports to the Ministry of Human Resources.

Free Tuition For 2,343 SPM And STPM Candidates Until December

RM2.63 million has gone to 28 tuition centres across seven states, which will run free structured classes for five months from August to December 2026. That covers the full lead-up to the SPM examinations for students who got a place.

Parents do not apply for this one directly. Tuition centres registered with the Ministry of Education apply to MITRA, and students are selected through the centres.

Business Grants Between RM20,000 And RM50,000 For 128 Entrepreneurs

More than RM3.05 million was distributed to 128 entrepreneurs under Uyarvu MADANI Series I. The fund was distributed based on qualifying tiers. The Micro tier goes up to RM20,000, Growth up to RM35,000, and High up to RM50,000, with the tier you qualify for depending on your sector and how long the business has been running.

Not everyone can apply for the grant. You must be a Malaysian of Indian descent aged 21 to 55, with a business validly registered with the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM). Anyone who has already received help under MITAP 2024 or MICEP 2024 is excluded, and applicants under the Growth and High tiers also have to submit a recent tax return. The grant is paid in stages, and the later payments only come after MITRA checks how the first instalment was spent.

RM1.04 Million For 52 Hindu Temples In The Fourth Round

Dharma MADANI Series 4 gives RM1.04 million to 52 Hindu places of worship. That brings the total to RM13.52 million approved for 676 temples nationwide since the programme began.

The money funds cultural classes for students and the building of community social centres, which are used for learning, cultural activities, and community programmes.
