9th February 2024 - 9 min read

As the Chinese community gets ready to celebrate the Lunar New Year once again come 10 February 2024, a customary annual tradition that many would partake in is to check the predictions of their Chinese zodiac signs for the upcoming year. Am I going to be lucky in my career in the next year? What’s my health and love life going to be like? And of course, the golden question: Am I going to fatt choi huat ahhh?
For those who are unfamiliar with Chinese astrology, all individuals are assigned a zodiac sign based on their year of birth, represented by one of the 12 Chinese zodiac animals. So as an example, if you’re born in the year 1972, 1984, 1996, 2008, or 2020, you are a Rat. Correspondingly, it’s believed that both your personality and horoscope are closely tied to your zodiac animal.
Each Lunar New Year, feng shui experts will share their forecasts for each zodiac sign, covering topics like wealth, health, career, and relationships. This year, of course, is no exception, so let’s take a look at what may be in store for your finances in 2024: the Year of the Wood Dragon.
Year of birth: 1936, 1948, 1960, 1972, 1984, 1996, 2008, 2020

Those born in the Year of the Rat can look forward to numerous opportunities to increase their wealth in 2024, and maybe even build a second (or third, or fourth…) source of income. Capitalise on your unique skills or talent for this, and you’ll be in a better position to progress financially.
As you embrace all the possibilities, though, make sure to avoid being hasty when making decisions, especially major ones. Take time to think things through, and always recognise the value that you offer so that you can position yourself better during negotiations.
Year of birth: 1937, 1949, 1961, 1973, 1985, 1997, 2009, 2021

Similar to the Rat, you will have plenty of opportunities to bump up your finances next year, but they also come with a fair bit of challenges. This means that you’ll need to exercise plenty of caution to avoid financial traps and maintain steady progress, whether in managing your spending or networking with people whom you collaborate with.
As such, it may be best to play it safe and stick to less risky ventures in 2024. You may meet many new individuals who are in positions of power to open doors for you, but do not be impulsive and rush into things.
Year of birth: 1938, 1950, 1962, 1974, 1986, 1998, 2010, 2022

You’ll have an acceptable year ahead in terms of your wealth luck, whereas your career will soar. If you play your cards right, you may be in line for a promotion and pay rise, and entrepreneurs may even be able to expand into new markets – with lots of opportunities to travel. That said, you may be tempted into overspending, so make sure to keep a close eye on your budget.
You should also avoid taking shortcuts when it comes to building your wealth. Instead, rely on honest and measured steps to earn your money.
Year of birth: 1939, 1951, 1963, 1975, 1987, 1999, 2011, 2023

Those born in the Year of the Rabbit may, unfortunately, face a pretty challenging year ahead, in terms of their wealth and career. You could attempt to improve your income by taking on side gigs and additional work, but networking opportunities and chances to build new interpersonal relationships may be quite rocky too. A good bet is to cultivate and strengthen your existing relationships with family, friends, and colleagues, and strengthen them so that they can buoy you through challenging times.
Do also keep an eye out for scams and avoid gambling to protect your finances. If you wish to invest, best to stay away from risky investments.
Year of birth: 1928, 1940, 1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000, 2012

Your luck for wealth and career is somewhat average in 2024, but it doesn’t mean you shouldn’t strive to do your best! You’ll need to rely on some solid financial planning to preserve your wealth in the following year, so if you’re investing, it may be a good idea to review your existing assets regularly and tap into tried-and-proven strategies like diversification.
Take care also to avoid gambling, speculative stocks (such as shorting stocks), and lending money to other individuals. Career-wise, maintain a calm and steady approach to things instead of charging in just to tap into a supposed opportunity.
Year of birth: 1929, 1941, 1953, 1965, 1977, 1989, 2001, 2013

Your prospects for wealth and career are actually looking pretty good for 2024 – provided you tread carefully. There are plenty of opportunities for you to reap some riches, but there are also pitfalls that can cause losses. So make sure to read the fine print in documents before you sign or invest in anything, and avoid suspicious collaborations or ventures. Legal issues, in particular, can land quite a blow to your finances.
Aside from that, 2024 is a particularly good year to pick up new skills or further your education, and this could contribute directly to your career progression. So if you have any hobbies or skills that you’ve been thinking of learning, don’t miss out on this chance.
Year of birth: 1930, 1942, 1954, 1966, 1978, 1990, 2002, 2014

Similar to the Snake, those who are born in the Year of the Horse will also enjoy great progress in 2024! Of course, this doesn’t mean you can simply sit back and rest on your laurels. You’ll still need to manage your finances diligently, which means carefully monitoring your budget and investments, as well as planning ahead as well as possible.
Fengshui experts also noted that you may run into challenges in your career, but you will have no problem tackling them if you persevere. Don’t forget to also tap into your support network for help, and take breaks every now and then to maintain your positivity and improve your performance.
Year of birth: 1931, 1943, 1955, 1967, 1979, 1991, 2003, 2015

2024 is going to shape up to be a great year for those born in the Year of the Goat, in terms of their finances and career. This is a good time to consider investing in new ventures or kickstarting any side gigs. If you notice any new opportunities in the market that have the potential to deliver gains, don’t be afraid to go for it.
That said, make sure to do your due diligence before making any decisions, especially when it comes to high-stake ventures. Having good prospects does not mean you can be hasty, as the consequences can be quite dire otherwise. It also pays to be open-minded to advice offered to you when you are in the midst of making decisions. Additionally, be cautious about lending money to family and friends, or agreeing to become a guarantor of loans.
Year of birth: 1932, 1944, 1956, 1968,1980, 1992, 2004, 2016

Great career progression is in the stars for you in 2024, and your wealth prospects are also relatively good. In particular, those who are keen on building partnerships, collaborations, and networking will benefit. That said, do not be quick to trust, and think twice even as you keep an open mind when advice are offered by those around you.
If you’re investing, take some time to look at your portfolio and manage it so that it can help you achieve long-term financial stability, instead of focusing on short-term gains. Do also pay attention to your budget; be prudent when spending, or you may face some financial difficulties.
Year of birth: 1933, 1945, 1957, 1969, 1981, 1993, 2005, 2017

Those born in the Year of the Rooster will enjoy good finances and career progression in 2024, but they should avoid dabbling in high-risk investments. Instead, focus on creating a balanced portfolio when investing, and make sure to spend with prudence.
It will also benefit you to take on some charity work, or offer to guide and assist those who are in need around you, such as your colleagues. This may forge alliances and gain you allies that could help you in the future.
Year of birth: 1934, 1946, 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994, 2006, 2018

If you’re born in the Year of the Dog, 2024 may not be an easy year for you financially or career-wise, but don’t despair! Focus on protecting your finances by exercising restraint in indulging your desires, and by being extra vigilant when it comes to your cash flow.
The coming year is also not a good time to become someone’s guarantor for loans, as this means taking unnecessary risks. If you’re an investor, stick to low-risk instruments instead of testing your luck with aggressive investments. Ultimately, you should prioritise protecting and maintaining your wealth in 2024, instead of growing it.
Year of birth: 1935, 1947, 1959, 1971, 1983, 1995, 2007, 2019

Year 2024 will be good to your wallet, so if you want to grow your wealth this year, you can do so. Pick up financial skills and knowledge where you can, and use these to guide your investment journey. You can also consider investing in growth portfolios – which naturally come with higher risk – but make sure to do your research beforehand. Most importantly, match your selected portfolio to your risk appetite and age!
Furthermore, think matters through carefully before agreeing to something, especially with regard to your career. While there will be plenty of opportunities to network with influential people throughout 2024, you must appraise each opportunity to be sure that you’re making the best of things.
