CIMB Islamic Bank has launched two new co-branded credit cards in collaboration with Petronas, dubbed the CIMB Petronas Visa Platinum-i card and the CIMB Petronas Visa Infinite-i card. Offering up to 8% and 12% cashback for Petronas-related transactions, respectively, the cards also reward cardholders with cashback for several other expense categories, including groceries, dining, and cashless parking spend.
To start, the CIMB Petronas Visa Platinum-i card offers up to 8% cash rebate when you spend via Petronas transactions, Setel transactions at Petronas, and EV charging at Petronas stations (capped at RM50 per month). To unlock the highest 8% rate, however, you must have a monthly statement balance of RM2,000 and above for the month. If your monthly statement balance falls between RM500 to RM1,999, then you will only be able to enjoy 4% cash rebate for your Petronas-related expenses.
In addition to that, the CIMB Petronas Visa Platinum-i card also lets you earn 2% cash rebate for your groceries, dining, and cashless parking expenses (capped at another RM50 per month), but again, this rate is only applicable if your monthly statement balance hits at least RM2,000. Otherwise, you will only be able to get 1% cash rebate for these transactions.
Here’s a table to summarise the benefits of the CIMB Petronas Visa Platinum-i card:
Spend categories | Cash rebate rate for statement balance of RM500 – RM1,999 | Cash rebate rate for statement balance of RM2,000 and above | Monthly cap |
– Petronas transactions – Setel transactions at Petronas – EV charging at Petronas | 4% | 8% | RM50 |
– Groceries – Dining – Cashless parking | 1% | 2% | RM50 |
Total cashback | RM100 |
Meanwhile, CIMB Islamic customers who own the CIMB Petronas Visa Infinite-i card will get to enjoy up to 12% cash rebate for their Petronas transactions, Setel transactions at Petronas, and EV charging at Petronas stations (capped at RM60 per month). According to the bank, this makes it the best Petronas cashback credit card with the highest cash rebate rate at present.
Like the CIMB Petronas Visa Platinum-i card, the cash rebate offered for the CIMB Petronas Visa Infinite-i is also tiered according to your monthly statement balance; you must achieve a minimum monthly statement balance of RM4,000 and above in order to reap the highest 12% rate. If your monthly statement balance falls between RM1,500 to RM3,999, then you’ll only be entitled to 6% cash rebate.
As for groceries, dining, and cashless parking expenses, CIMB Petronas Visa Infinite-i cardholders will be able to enjoy either a cash rebate of 6% (statement balance of RM4,000 and above) or 3% (statement balance of RM1,500 to RM3,999). This category of cash rebate is capped at another RM60 per month.
On top of these benefits, the CIMB Petronas Visa Infinite-i card also has some additional perks over the lower variant CIMB Petronas Visa Platinum-i card, such as the 1% cash rebate for overseas spend – to be provided regardless of your statement balance. Additionally, cardholders will be entitled to 4x complimentary access to the Plaza Premium Lounge each year.
Here’s another table to help you quickly grasp the cash rebate benefits of the CIMB Petronas Visa Infinite-i card:
