Allianz has revamped its home insurance plan, Smart Home Cover to include a wider scope of coverage. The plan’s HomeFix module now covers pest control expenses as well as the cost of home disinfection for cases of Covid-19 diagnosis.

“Our Smart Home Cover aims to address all housing insurance issues, especially during times of uncertainty such as the current Covid-19 pandemic,” said Allianz General chief sales officer Horst Habbig. “The Smart Home Cover policy covers home disinfection if a member of the household is diagnosed with Covid-19.”

Habbig added that Allianz was the first company in Malaysia to include pest control and Covid-19 disinfection in its home insurance plan.

The Allianz Smart Home Cover is a flexible home insurance plan that consists of five components; in addition to the HomeFix module, there are the HouseOwner (Building), HouseHolder (Content), Mortgage Loan Instalment Protection, and Landlord Insurance components. Insurance buyers are free to add and select the different modules based on their needs and wants, with the premiums being adjusted accordingly.

The premium for just the HomeFix component is priced between RM50 and RM100 per year, depending on the maximum benefit amount offered. The circumstances covered are as follows:

• Repair of burst pipe
• Repair or replacement of doors, locks, and windows arising from theft
• Domestic help allowance
• Home repair or service (air conditioner, plumbing, electrical wiring, painting, roofing, and locksmith)
• Home care (termites or bed bugs pest control, and disinfection service)
