The Inland Revenue Board (LHDN) has reminded all individual and non-individual taxpayers that they can begin submitting their tax return forms for the year of assessment 2023 (YA 2023) starting from tomorrow, 1 March 2024.

In a statement, LHDN said that the submission of the tax forms can be done via the e-Filing service, accessible either through the MyTax portal or the HASiL official portal. It also urged taxpayers to prepare their supporting documents in advance for a smoother process, including income statements, receipts, and invoices.

In addition to that, the board shared some guidelines for the overall submission process as well. For instance, new taxpayers who are logging in to the MyTax portal will be required to first activate their individual digital certificate before they can access the portal. This can be done either via e-KYC (smartphones) or by submitting an e-CP55D form (computers/smartphones), depending on your preference.

Meanwhile, taxpayers who have forgotten their MyTax passwords can request to reset them by clicking on “Forgot Password” and following the subsequent instructions. Alternatively, you can call the HASiL contact centre at 03-8911 1000, or message them through the HASiL Live Chat for assistance.

To note, Malaysia’s tax season is typically scheduled to start on 1 March every year, with the deadline for resident individuals falling on 30 April (offline channels) or 15 May (e-Filing). You can view the full timeline for the YA 2023 tax filing programme here.
