AIA Launches AIA Online Shield, Available Exclusively On Shopee

AIA General Berhad has launched a new digital insurance plan called AIA Online Shield. Making its digital debut on Shopee in conjunction with the 12.12 sales, AIA Online Shield is an affordable short-term personal accident plan that provides coverage for accidents, Covid-19, and dengue fever.

The customer journey for AIA Online Shield will be simplified and entirely digital, in an effort by AIA to make insurance more accessible and affordable. Customers have the flexibility to choose their desired benefits and coverage term for AIA Online Shield, with coverage of up to RM50,000 for death by accident and RM12,000 for Covid-19 and dengue fever respectively.

“The world is constantly evolving and becoming increasingly digital – spurring transformations at a rapid pace,” said Eric Chang, CEO of AIA General Berhad. “This initiative is part of our efforts to find new ways to serve our customers and their ever-changing protection needs by enabling the purchase of insurance in any way that they prefer, including online.”

Chang added that AIA Online Shield marks the beginning of AIA General Berhad’s digital transformation journey, and that the insurer looks forward to partnering with more digital platforms in Malaysia. “We have also observed how the increase in the consumption of digital services has exposed customers to new risks that are seldom addressed, and our goal is to introduce new and innovative products that can meet those needs,” he continued.

AIA Online Shield is available exclusively on Shopee and is open to Malaysian citizens aged between 30 days to 65 years old. The premium for each plan varies according to the breadth of coverage and length of term as seen below:
