Great Eastern’s Three-Year Savings Plan Pays 4% In Year One

GREAT Returns Extra 6 from Great Eastern Life Assurance (Malaysia) has been open since 3 August, and it closes first. To get the campaign rates, sign up by 31 October 2026 and make sure your policy starts by 6 November.

You pay premiums for two years and get a payout every year for three years. Each payout is a share of the premiums you’ve paid so far. It’s 4% in the first year and 3.75% in the second and third years. When the plan ends, you get back 100% of your premiums. Policies that miss the campaign dates get 3.05% p.a. instead.

By our calculation, paying the minimum RM15,000 a year would get you RM600 in the first year and RM1,125 in each of the next two years. That’s RM2,850 in payouts, plus your RM30,000 back at the end. The same money in a 12-month fixed deposit at 2.8% p.a., the best rate on our fixed deposit page right now, would earn RM2,100 if you took the interest out each year. That’s RM750 less than the Great Eastern plan.

The trade-off is access to your money. It stays in the plan for the full three years. Cancelling early gets you back less than you paid, starting at 90.20% of your premiums in the first month, according to the product disclosure sheet. Great Eastern caps the total amount it takes in without saying how much, so sign-ups close early if the fund fills.

You must be 17 to 70 years old to apply. Insurers count your age as the age you’ll be on your next birthday. The plan covers death and total permanent disability for the three years, and you don’t need a medical check-up to sign up. Its benefits are protected by PIDM up to RM500,000. To sign up, leave your details on the plan’s page and a Great Eastern advisor will contact you.

Up To RM60 eWallet Credit With Lonpac Personal Accident Insurance

From 15 September to 15 December 2026, Lonpac Insurance is giving Touch ‘n Go (TNG) eWallet credit when you buy a new personal accident policy through Public Bank. The offer covers two Lonpac plans, FlexiCare PA and Secure Protector PA.

The amount of credit depends on your premium before service tax and stamp duty. A premium of RM300 to RM599.99 gets you RM30, while a premium of RM600 or more gets you RM60. The credit goes furthest right at each starting point. RM30 on a RM300 premium is 10% back, and RM60 on RM600 is the same, while a bigger premium in either band earns a smaller share.

You can buy one FlexiCare PA policy and one Secure Protector PA policy, and each one earns its own reward. With two policies of RM600 or more each, you’d get RM120 in total.

You’ll qualify if all four of these apply to you.

  • You’re a Malaysian citizen or permanent resident buying the policy for yourself
  • It’s a new policy, since renewals don’t count
  • You buy at a Public Bank branch or Hire Purchase Centre, not online
  • You pay the full premium by 15 December, with a mobile number linked to an active TNG eWallet account

Public Bank staff can’t join. The credit arrives within 45 days after the campaign ends, with an SMS a day before. Cancel the policy before then and you lose it.

Up To RM100 eWallet Credit For Switching To Lonpac Car Insurance

You’d normally only switch insurers at renewal, so this suits Public Bank credit cardholders whose car insurance renews before 31 December. Switch from another insurer to a new Lonpac Motor Private Car Secure Comprehensive policy, and you can get up to RM100 in TNG eWallet credit. You’ll need to pay with your Public Bank credit card. Public Bank’s promotion started on 10 July, and we covered the launch at the time.

A total premium of RM1,000 to RM2,000, including service tax and stamp duty, gets you RM50. Anything above RM2,000 gets you RM100, so a premium of exactly RM2,000 still gets RM50. RM50 on a RM1,000 premium is 5% back, and RM100 on a premium just over RM2,000 is also 5%. Bigger premiums earn a smaller share.

You can spread the premium over six months with a 0% instalment plan. Buy through Public Bank’s online banking, the MyPB app, a Public Bank branch, or a Hire Purchase Centre. You’ll also need a verified TNG eWallet linked to your mobile number. For policies issued from 1 October to 31 December 2026, the credit is paid on 25 January 2027. If your policy renews later, you can compare car insurance plans before your renewal date.

RM30 eWallet Credit With Great Eastern Home Insurance

New customers of GREAT Home 360, the home insurance plan from Great Eastern General Insurance (Malaysia), get RM30 in TNG eWallet credit until 31 December 2026. Only the first 200 policies issued during the campaign get the reward, and past and current GREAT Home 360 policyholders can’t join.

Apply, pay the full premium, and have your policy issued by 31 December. The credit is emailed to you by the 30th day of the month after your policy is issued. If the email address you give is wrong, you lose the reward. It’s valid for 90 days and can only be used in the TNG eWallet app. Cancel the policy and RM30 is taken off your refund. The offer can’t be combined with other Great Eastern General promotions.

50% Off Premiums For Great Eastern’s Critical Illness Plan

Until 31 December 2026, Great Eastern is offering 50% off the premium rate for GREAT Critical Care Relief, its critical illness plan. The discount lasts until the plan matures at 80. The plan is open to anyone from 14 days old up to 60 years old on their next birthday, with cover of RM50,000 to RM400,000.

It pays a lump sum for five critical illnesses, which are cancer, heart attack, stroke, kidney failure, and coronary artery disease. A hospital stay of 21 days or more for major surgery, or seven days in a row in the ICU, also counts. The payout is your sum assured, which is the amount of cover you choose, or the total premiums you’ve paid, whichever is higher. The same amount goes to your family on your death, and premiums stop once a claim is made.

Great Eastern’s campaign flyer gives the example of a man who turns 30 on his next birthday and doesn’t smoke, with RM100,000 of cover. At the half-price rate, he pays RM1,345 a year instead of RM2,690. If the rate never changes, that’s RM67,250 over 50 years.

The rate can change, though. Premium rates aren’t guaranteed, and Great Eastern can raise them on your policy anniversary with at least three months’ notice. Claims also only count after a waiting period. It’s 30 days for stroke and kidney failure. For cancer, heart attack, coronary artery disease, and hospital or ICU stays that aren’t caused by an accident, it’s 60 days.

The plan has no guaranteed cash value until you’ve paid two years of premiums, and cancelling early means getting back less than you paid. Keep it until 80 without a claim, and you get back your sum assured or your total premiums, whichever is higher. You can buy it online on Great Eastern’s website or through a Great Eastern advisor. You have 15 days after receiving the policy to cancel for a full refund, minus any medical check-up costs.

Cash Back Every Six Months With Zurich’s Savings Plan On ShopeePay

Since 7 October, you can buy the Zurich Savings & Protection Plan from Zurich Life Insurance Malaysia on the Shopee and ShopeePay apps, starting from RM500. Zurich says it’ll soon lower the starting amount to RM100. It’s Zurich’s second plan on Shopee, after its critical illness insurance in July.

It’s a two-year plan that mixes savings with life insurance. You pay once at the start, and the plan gives you guaranteed cash back every six months. At the end of the two years, you get back 100% of the amount you paid in. The life and disability cover pays out 105% of what you paid. Zurich hasn’t published how much each cash back payment is, or what it costs to cash out early.

This is an insurance plan, not a bank savings account, and its benefits are protected by PIDM up to RM500,000. To buy, open the ShopeePay app, tap “Insurance” on the homepage, then choose “Endowment”.

Read The Product Disclosure Sheet Before You Pay

Every insurance plan comes with a product disclosure sheet. It’s a short document that lists what the plan covers, what it costs, and what it doesn’t cover. Every insurer uses the same standard format. You can ask for it at the counter, or find it in the app or on the insurer’s website.

Weigh The Lock-In Against The Extra Return

The eWallet credits run from RM30 to RM100, and the half-price critical illness offer saves RM1,345 a year in Great Eastern’s own example. Each one only helps if you were already planning to buy that personal accident, car, home or critical illness cover.

The two savings plans are insurance plans first. On RM15,000 a year, GREAT Returns Extra 6 pays RM750 more than a 12-month fixed deposit. Your RM30,000 is locked in for three years, though, and leaving in the first month gets you back 90.20% of what you’ve paid. A fixed deposit is protected by PIDM up to RM250,000, and breaking it early usually costs you only the interest. Zurich’s plan starts lower, at RM500, but Zurich hasn’t published its cash back rate yet.

We’ll add more insurance promotions to this list as they come up.
