Insurer Etiqa General Insurance Berhad has announced a partnership with tech and pet services company, Petotum, to introduce comprehensive pet insurance products as well as other pet-related services soon. This, in turn, will hopefully provide enhanced coverage and streamlined services for pet owners who are seeking for such services.

In a joint statement, Petotum said that through the collaboration, it can leverage on advanced technologies, data analytics and a customer-centric approach to better meet the needs of pet owners. Those who use Petotum’s platform can look forward to an easy experience in managing their pet insurance policies. In addition to that, they can also tap into a personalised pet health monitoring service to ensure the wellbeing of their pets in the long run.

“By integrating our ecosystem with Etiqa General Insurance’s industry-leading insurance solutions, we can provide pet owners with an all-inclusive ecosystem that encompasses insurance, healthcare, and various pet-related services. Together, we will revolutionise the perception and experience of insurance for the pet industry in Malaysia,” said the chief executive officer of Petotum, Afifah Basir.

The chief executive officer of Etiqa General Insurance, Fukhairudin Mohd Yusof, also shared a similar sentiment, noting that there has been a growing demand for pet insurance in the country. “By leveraging on our combined expertise, Etiqa General Insurance aims to offer comprehensive insurance products that protect what matters most to pet owners with seamless customer experience,” he said.

Aside from Etiqa, one other insurer in Malaysia known to provide pet insurance is MSIG Insurance, who had partnered with digital platform Oyen back in 2021 to offer the product.
