Zurich Malaysia Introduces EV-Focused Insurance

Zurich Malaysia has rolled out Z-Driver EV Protect, a new motor insurance and takaful add-on created specifically for electric vehicle (EV) owners. The product offers coverage beyond traditional motor policies, protecting EV batteries, home wall chargers, portable charging accessories, and more.

Protection Tailored For EV Owners

With an add-on premium or contribution starting from RM120, Z-Driver EV Protect is designed to address the unique risks of EV ownership. The plan includes protection for home wall chargers up to RM15,000, personal liability during charging up to RM50,000, and coverage for portable charging cables up to RM2,000.

It also provides a compassionate allowance of up to RM20,000 for incidents at public charging stations, alongside optional enhanced protection against special perils such as battery damage caused by water ingress.

These benefits are offered on top of existing Z-Driver features, including unlimited towing in the event of battery depletion.

Expanding EV Infrastructure With Gentari

In addition to the new protection plan, Zurich Malaysia has partnered with Gentari Green Mobility Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Gentari Sdn Bhd, to support the growth of Malaysia’s EV charging network. Zurich’s brand presence has been extended to 13 Gentari charging stations located in high-traffic areas such as Suria KLCC, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, KLIA2 Gateway, The Gardens Mall, Paradigm Mall Johor Bahru, Gamuda Gardens, and Putrajaya Sentral.

Zurich Malaysia highlighted that reliable charging infrastructure is essential for encouraging EV adoption in Malaysia. The collaboration aims to build awareness and visibility while creating a more connected and accessible EV ecosystem.

Supporting Malaysia’s Transition To Clean Mobility

Gentari emphasised that this partnership strengthens efforts to develop a green mobility ecosystem nationwide. By expanding access to charging facilities and enhancing the ownership experience, both companies hope to make the transition to electric vehicles safer, more convenient, and more practical for Malaysian drivers.
