Author Avatar

Zurich Wallet Protection is now available on the ShopeePay and Shopee apps, giving Malaysians a new way to protect their money from online fraud. The protection is provided by Zurich General Insurance Malaysia Berhad and can be accessed by users nationwide.

Plans start from RM1.40 per month, with coverage that applies not only to ShopeePay, but also to other bank accounts, e-wallets, and card payments used by the user.

Protection Covers Common Online Fraud Situations

The protection covers a range of online fraud cases, including unauthorised money transfers, card misuse, phishing attempts, impersonation fraud, and online shopping fraud where paid items do not arrive.

Coverage applies across different payment platforms and services, not just Shopee, reflecting how Malaysians commonly use multiple apps and accounts to manage daily spending.

Two Plans Offered With Different Coverage Limits

Two plans are available. The Basic Plan costs RM1.40 per month, with the first month offered for free. The VIP Plan costs RM4.90 per month. Both plans are open to Malaysian citizens aged 18 and above.

Under the Basic Plan, unauthorised money transfers are covered up to RM3,000 per month, with a higher annual limit. For card misuse and online shopping fraud, the monthly limit is RM200 per category. The VIP Plan offers higher monthly limits, including up to RM10,000 for unauthorised transfers and RM1,000 for card misuse and online shopping fraud.

Launch Comes As Online Fraud Losses Continue To Rise

The launch comes as online fraud continues to cause growing losses in Malaysia. Data from the Royal Malaysia Police Commercial Crime Investigation Department shows that 47,854 cases were recorded as of September 2025, with total losses reaching RM1.92 billion. This represents an increase of 12,486 cases compared with the previous year.

The figures highlight the financial risks faced by people who rely on digital payments and online shopping.

How Users Can Access The Protection

Users can find Zurich Wallet Protection on the ShopeePay app homepage or through the Shopee app by going to the Insurance section. Sign-up and management are handled directly within the app.

The protection is subject to terms and conditions and does not cover certain situations, such as incidents linked to social media platforms. Users are also expected to take basic steps to keep their accounts and payment details secure.
