Pertama Digital Bhd has announced that it will be partnering with CGS-CIMB Securities Sdn Bhd to develop and offer digital financial services to the public, further empowering retail investors in their investment journey.

According to a joint statement, both parties will collaborate to create products that are specifically meant for addressing the needs of retail investors. Among some of the services that Pertama Digital and CGS-CIMB are looking to develop soon include digital stockbroking, as well as offerings that can increase the people’s access to Islamic capital market products via digital channels – both locally and regionally. Pertama Digital also notes that this collaboration will be an opportunity to serve the public using a “hyperlocal strategy”.

“The Covid-19 pandemic has accelerated the demand for digital financial services, including digital stockbroking. There is an opportunity to give everyone access to the capital markets, regardless of their background. Through more equitable models powered by digital, we aspire to influence how the rakyat builds wealth over the next 10 years,” said the executive director of Pertama Digital, Sabri Rahman.

The chief executive officer of CGS-CIMB, Ruzi Rani Ajith concurred, adding that the company – as one of Asia’s leading integrated financial service providers – is committed to lending its expertise and resources to create relevant opportunities. In turn, both Pertama Digital and CGS-CIMB will be able to contribute towards the realisation of the Capital Market Masterplan 3, which was launched by the Securities Commission back in September 2021.

Pertama Digital is known for its digital bail payment solution, eJamin, on top of being one of the 29 applicants bidding for the upcoming digital bank licences by Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM). Meanwhile, CGS-CIMB Securities is a joint venture between CIMB Group and China Galaxy International Financial Holdings Ltd, a subsidiary of China Galaxy Securities Co Ltd.
