DuitNow Network Currently Experiencing Technical Issues, Instant Transfer & QR Payment Services Temporarily Unavailable

UPDATE: The DuitNow network has been restored, as confirmed by both CIMB and Maybank via their Facebook pages. The outage lasted around an hour.

It appears that the DuitNow network is currently experiencing some intermittent technical issues, which has caused the DuitNow (Instant Transfer) and DuitNow QR payment services to be temporarily unavailable.

Both Maybank and CIMB Bank have shared an alert on this matter on their official social media accounts. In their posts, they explained that they were informed that Payments Network Malaysia (PayNet) – who manages the national payments network – has reported a network issue.

For Maybank, it further said that the “DuitNow Transfer and DuitNow QR services are temporarily unavailable on Maybank2u web, the MAE app, and Maybank2u Biz (web & app)”. Customers may opt to use Interbank GIRO to make fund transfers instead.

Similarly, CIMB said that the DuitNow (Instant Transfer) service is currently unavailable, and that customers can use Interbank GIRO for their transactions. “Please note all other services via CIMB OCTO and CIMB Clicks (both web and app) remain available,” the bank shared.

As of the time of writing, we have not seen the other participating banks in Malaysia post similar notices on their official social media accounts, but it is highly likely that the two DuitNow services will also be temporarily down for them.

If you’re planning to make any purchases, perhaps consider delaying it until PayNet or your respective banks have issued an all-clear notice. Alternatively, you can consider opting for other payment methods to complete your transactions, such as card payments or cash.
