Prime Minister Ismail Sabri has announced that a contribution of RM 10,000 will be given by the government to the next of kin of each victim who died in the floods. To ensure an expedited delivery of the contribution, the Prime Minister himself will collect the list of names of the deceased from the disaster district centres.

“We are very sympathetic and saddened by what happened and we will provide some contributions. We will channel (it) through the district offices, which will hand it over to the next of kin of the victims concerned,” the Prime Minister explained. “It is learnt that the Pahang government is also providing RM 5,000 to the next of kin of each victim killed in the floods,” he added.

In addition, the Prime Minister has also instructed the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA) to expedite the disbursement of the RM1,000 assistance to households affected by the floods

According to the Prime Minister, NADMA should make immediate payment to those who are at the relief centres before the flood victims return home as the data is already there. “There is no need to wait to fill in the form and so on,” he explained.
