Govt Offers Special Covid-19 Cash Aid, Unemployment Financial Assistance

Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has introduced two cash aids for the public during the unveiling of the latest PEMULIH stimulus package, namely a special Covid-19 cash assistance (BKC) for selected recipients and a financial aid for those who are unemployed.

With regard to the special Covid-19 cash assistance, the aid will be provided to the following groups based on the schedule below:

According to the prime minister, a budget of RM4.6 billion has been allocated for this special Covid-19 cash assistance, and it is expected to benefit more than 11 million households and individuals.

Muhyiddin also highlighted that this special cash assistance is on top of the existing Bantuan Prihatin Rakyat (BPR) cash aid that is already being provided via previous stimulus packages, including PEMERKASA and PEMERKASA+.

Aside from this, the government has also agreed to provide financial aid for those who are unemployed (Bantuan Kehilangan Pendapatan). Through this one-off aid, RM500 will be channelled in October to workers who had lost their income, based on data from the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) and the Social Security Organisation (SOCSO). A total of RM500 million has been earmarked for this aid, and will benefit up to one million individuals.
