Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) will offer free KTM Komuter rides in the Klang Valley on 10th and 11th February in conjunction with the Thaipusam festival, which falls on 11th February 2025.

Minister of Transport Anthony Loke announced that passengers could enjoy the free rides from midnight until 11:59 pm by using the check-out scanning system at the automatic control gates (ACG).

To accommodate the expected surge in passengers, KTMB will operate additional round-the-clock KTM Komuter services for four days, from 9th to 12th February. The Port Klang-Tanjung Malim-Port Klang route will follow a full travel schedule throughout the celebration.

“This initiative is aimed at meeting passenger demand, particularly Hindu devotees, tourists, and members of the public who wish to experience the uniqueness of the Thaipusam celebration at Batu Caves. We expect nearly 500,000 passengers to benefit from this service, marking a 10 per cent increase from last year, with peak travel expected on 11th February,” he said.

Loke also said that the additional train services over the four-day period would involve 494 trips. These include 33 services for the Batu Caves-Pulau Sebang-Batu Caves route, 45 services for the Batu Caves-Port Klang-Batu Caves route, and 28 services for the KL Sentral-Batu Caves-KL Sentral route.

Additionally, there will be six services for the Batu Caves-Bangi-Batu Caves route, as well as three services each for the Batu Caves-Sentul and Batu Caves-Subang Jaya routes.

He said the additional train services would begin after the last scheduled train each day, with service times starting as early as 9:55 pm from Pulau Sebang to Batu Caves and 9:30 pm from Port Klang to Batu Caves.

For passengers departing from KL Sentral, extra train services will be added between existing schedules, starting from 11 am. This will increase frequency to every 30 minutes, compared to the usual hourly service on regular days.

30 RapidKL buses will operate from Hab Bandar Pasar Seni, LRT Gombak, and MRT Kampung Batu to Batu Caves, with departures every 10 minutes. RapidPenang will deploy 12 buses, operating at intervals of 20 to 60 minutes, from the ferry service jetty to Adventist.

The Penang Port Commission and Penang Port Sdn Bhd will also offer free 24-hour ferry services on 10th and 11th February, with extended operations until 2:30 am on 12th February.
